Read what I wrote... EXCLUDE from Combat...General discharge....DENY enlistment Stated conditions...NO GUN DEPRESSION...yes, it is a mental state that is not well defined and could be precursor to so much more...so sorry, no gun!
CAVEAT: If reasonable and sufficient evlaution guidelines could be developed to understand and treat "VERY" minor cases, and a defined evaluation process is developed that can ensure issues are not premanent or disease driven, and a period of evaluatin/re-evaluation , then those "few" cases could be reconsidered later. But it would have to be a reasonable secure process.
EXAMPLE: To me depression over the loss of a loved one is normal and not necessarily a mental disorder or precurosr. These are instances that need to be addressed through re-evaluations over periof of time as I've said.
By the way, I lived in GA for 10yrs. Having a gun is a way of life and an expectation.
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!
I don't fget that from the article at all...seems like it's very out in the open and nothing being hidden or swept under the rug.
I'm not saying it is "swept under the rug". I'm saying that treatment is done discretely because soldiers do not want to jeopardize their career. That is how they are trying to convince soldiers to seek treatment. Many soldiers dealing with the anxieties of war which may lead to further mental illness, will not seek treatment for fears of losing out on a promotion.
a 25 year old relative of ours...male....has gone years (well documented) for being treated with xanax/prozac for depression/anxiety/anger issues....to heroin addiction...back to xanax.....he decided to join either the army or marines....in which both of them said he could join.....EVEN....with his recent/long term documented 'mental illness' records. Not saying it's right or not.....just sayin'.

I'll step up and say it's wrong. I don't want that individual in my squad covering my back. Unfortunately, some "unethical recruiters" are still driven by quotas and wil find ways to circumvent the restrictions to enlistment to hit their numbers. Failure to hit your numbers means bad review and reassignment.

Perhaps all enlistees should be given a mental health background check, just as they seek to use for gun licenses.
alrighty then........i just check with my relative....he said that he has to be drug free (legal or otherwise) for 6 months prior to enlistment and they would take blood tests....however....if they suspect he is 'using' while enlisted, there is a 'legal' limit via blood tests that they allow. Don't know what that 'legal limit' is yet...still checking...
they aren't concerned as much with the 'mental status' as they are with the 'drug usage'....in this case anyway. it may be different from recruiter to recruiter...donno these days!

the issue is giving another human being that we ASSUME is not mentally ill.....to make judgement...because another human being made a judgement on them to call them an expert, and prior to that human being another human being made a judgement on them...etc etc etc....

Reviewing F. William Engdahl's "Seeds of Destruction" (Part I)
Bill Engdahl is a leading researcher, economist and analyst of the New World Order who's written on issues of energy, politics and economics for over 30 years. He contributes regularly to publications like Japan's Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Foresight magazine, Grant's Investor.com, European Banker and Business Banker International. He's also a frequent speaker at geopolitical, economic and energy related international conferences and is a distinguished Research Associate of the Centre for Research on Globalization where he's a regular contributor.
Engdahl also wrote two important books - "A Century of War: Anglo-American Oil Politics and the New World Order" in 2004. It's an essential history of geopolitics and the importance of oil. Engdahl explains that America's post-WW II dominance rests on two pillars and one commodity - unchallengeable military power and the dollar as the world's reserve currency combined with the quest to control global oil and other energy resources.
Engdahl's newest book is just out from the Centre for Research on Globalization. It's a sequel to his first one called "Seeds of Destruction: The Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation" and subject of this review. It's the diabolical story of how Washington and four Anglo-American agribusiness giants plan world domination by patenting life forms to gain worldwide control of our food supply and why that prospect is chilling. The book's compelling contents are reviewed below in-depth so readers will know the type future Henry Kissinger had in mind in 1970 when he said: "Control oil and you control nations; control food and you control the people."
Remember also, this cabal is one of many interconnected ones with fearsome power and ruthless intent to use it - Big Banks controlling the Federal Reserve and our money, Big Oil our world energy resources, Big Media our information, Big Pharma our health, Big Technology our state-of-the-art everything and watching us, Big Defense our wars, Big Pentagon waging them, and other corporate predators exploiting our lives for profit. Engdahl's book focuses brilliantly on one of them. To fully cover its vital contents, this review will be in three
