An alliance of more than 40 public, private and academic organizations in New York and Massachusetts has joined to compete for a federally-designated test site for unmanned aircraft systems to be established in the Northeast.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced Feb. 14 that it would choose six sites to conduct research aimed at safely integrating unmanned aerial vehicles into the national airspace system by 2015.

The Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research Alliance (NUAIR), a consortium of industry leaders and academic institutions throughout New York and Massachusetts, is leading the initiative. Alliance representatives said in Syracuse Thursday that each state has complementary strengths in technical capabilities, research operations and the infrastructure needed to compete for a test site.

The alliance is being led by Syracuse-based CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity and MassDevelopment, a Massachusetts finance and development agency.

CenterState officials said Griffiss International Airport, operated by Oneida County, will assume a lead role and submit the application to compete for an FAA test site on behalf of NUAIR.

Central New York has a big stake in the effort because it is home to the 174th Attack Wing of the New York Air National Guard, which operates MQ-9 Reaper drones.

For safety reasons, the FAA does not currently allow unmanned aerial vehicles to fly in unrestricted air space, so the Air Guard flies the Reaper out of Fort Drum in Watertown on operator training missions.

MY POINT was that I posted an article about civilian drones and who is trying to get them where....
and you jump in immediately to redirect the post to military warfare, because that's more along the lines of
your personal agenda. A posting about activities being conducted for civilian drones was just too
mundane and boring, so you had to direct to meet your needs.

You absolutely missed the point.

The direction they are heading will result in computer controlled weaponized drones.

It is the obvious outcome. What military strategist would not be seeking to get the system implemented
and incrementally changed, bit by bit to allow drones to kill, just as the police have been systematically
given the right to execute. The computers will end up making the calls. This will be much worse than police
killings.

Once this point is reached, it will be a matter of time before the computers will see all humans as a threat
for elimination.

You probably were busy saving the world when Colossus: The Forbin Project was released.

You fail to see the harm of these actions being performed today. They will lead to a very serious unwanted future.
