When the INSANE are running the ASYLUM In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule. -- Friedrich Nietzsche

Alex Jones, what an a$$hole. It's not some big Obama conspiracy with the federal reserve. It's Houston, (a red city, in a red state) and only Houston. He conveniently leaves out that in Houston, they already have that same law, just to sell SCRAP metal. Or is the fed trying to dominate the rust hub cap market as well?
Remember back when you cashed a check, they used to take a picture? It's like that. Remember the thumb print machine at some banks? It's like that, but douche bags like Jones want you to live in a state of fear, and paranoia, and you fall for it every time.

you think so...but the truth lies in who is getting the $$$$$$$
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS

The Bank on Broadway takes your fingerprint to cash a check, plus ID, plus they charge a check cashing fee.
If I owned a pawn shop, I would certainly get a fingerprint and take a picture of their ID, their merchandise and their face.
Because I would want to. I would object to being forced to, and to submit it to the authorities.
If the police want pawn shops to watch for stolen goods, they should have a website that lists stolen items.
Well of course you would want the pawn shops to serve the masters.
Well of course you can't understand written words well.... I never said that nor did I even hint at agreeing with that. My comment was about your Briliant Jewel of a suggestion. Think about it and maybe reality might poke you in the eye.
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!

What's wrong with police listing stolen items to watch for, except that it would fill 100 pages a day?
Let's start with this.... If there was a website, then pawn shops could see if an item brought in is stolen... So then they don't buy it, becuase it's stolen goods. And the person that brought the stolen goods in is???????? and chances of recovery is ??????
See, when things are stolen, usually they try to pawn them quickly...quicker than Police can get them on any website. So Police go to Pawn shops after the fact, with lists of items and ask dealers if anyone has pawned those items. If Pawn shop has taken them in, and the seller was finger printed, and the sellers prints are on file...the Police can trace back to the criminal that stole them, who in some cases may not be the same one that sold them to the pawn shop. So although having a website might help pawn shop owners knowing that something is stolen, it is not real time enough to completely avoid it....and it is not a fail safe method.
That's all in the pawn shop scenario you mentioned.

But in your scenario, the pawn shop owner loses the merchandise and the money he paid.
If you want businesses to help, you can't punish them financially.
What's so difficult to have a website and list all the property crimes committed daily, except for the embarrassment and the sheer numbers, of course?
For your method you should just have the cops run the pawn shops.

(1) You would complain about the expense incurred by taxpayers for running this website (2) Pawn shop owner knows the risks and they are all trained to try and identify stolen goods up front...these guys are smart business owners....they manage it well, but yes, they would loose finanacially. (3) What about the finanacial loss/potential recovery of goods for the vistims...shouldn't that count for something too? If it was something of yours of value, wouldn't you want a system that would increase the potetnial of recovering it rather than one that ignores your position in the whole mess? (4) Sher numbers an inability to do "real time" listings...and guy at the counter at the pawn shop trying to sell it is told "hang on while I check the stolen goods database..." as he's running out the door!
