"The sounds of conservative talk radio filled his home and fed
his anti-government attitudes, locals said."

"He threatened people, he beat a dog to death, he was "feared" by the community"
but no one could take his gun away."

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

His war was 50 years ago... but his daily dose of HATE that caused this nutcase to kill was this week.

Just one more success story from Hate Radio!

Limbaugh, Hannity Savage, etc can be proud of their work!

"Dykes was a paranoid man who possibly had weeks worth of supplies in his bunker.
The sounds of right wing talk radio could be heard from his home, which seemingly
fueled his anti-government views.
He was obsessed with protecting his property, and is said to have once beaten a dog to
death with a steel pipe. There were also multiple accusations of his threatening to shoot children
for entering his property.

Dykes was also arrested in December for allegedly shooting a gun to frighten a neighbor.
He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran who obviously had serious mental health issues
fed by a constant stream of paranoid anti-government ideology.
These are the sorts of people who should never be allowed firearms. There was tragedy here,
and potential for more, all because a paranoid, mentally ill man had access to weapons."

This guy's profile could fit several on our board:
~ Paranoid
~ Anti Govt Views
~ Right Wing Hate Radio
~ Obsessed with protecting his property
~ Armed and dangerous
~ Mentally ill

I have to agree with box again.  This guy's military training and inability to think for himself probably made him susceptible to becoming easily persuaded to act upon words coming from a voice on the radio.  Compound that with his training to kill on command makes these veterans ticking time bombs.

Jane Fonda is ancient history... What fueled this killer is Anti Government BS... Kill the cops, Kill
the military, Kill the f'n mailman... just like the HATE that you read from some of the anti govt
posters on this board.

"I need an AR15 for the upcoming war against MY GOVT!"

Cic
Your hatred of the US military is well documented on this board.
Even a ticking clock would need winding over the 50 years since his war...
His Hatred was fueled by the same source that fuels the anti govt hatred on this board.  The
constant drumbeat of FEAR and Paranoia by Right Wing Hate Radio.

Homeland Security in 2008 predicted the violence of 'right-wing extremists and anti govt haters.
The Ruby Ridge Radicals and the Waco Wackos are promoting their Fear of everything associated with
the US Govt.

"I need an RPG to protect my home...
I need an assault weapon to ward off 'criminals...
I need a howitzer to protect my family..."

What you read on this board is what that report was cautioning America about.  Armed Right Wing Haters
intent on treason.

(There are some Americans who will NEVER accept a black president )

This is the actual quote from the Huffpost story..

"He was a loner who allegedly lost contact with an adult daughter years ago, according to people who lived near him. The sounds of conservative talk radio filled his home and fed his anti-government attitudes, locals said."

What locals? ...specifically?
He lived on a rural dirt road...He would need to have the radio pretty loud for his neighbors, who supposedly stayed as far away from him possible, to hear "conservative talk radio"...

It's nothing but bullshit conjecture, but you post it anyway....

"Dykes was known by neighbors for his anti-government rants and for patrolling his property with
a gun, ready to shoot trespassers. Neighbors described Dykes as a menacing, unpredictable man
who once beat a dog to death with a lead pipe.

A law enforcement source did not disclose Dykes' motives but said he had issues he had wanted to
air and one of them was of an anti-government nature, according to CBS senior investigative
producer Pat Milton.(source)

"He always said he'd never be taken alive. I knew he'd never come out of there," said an acquaintance,
Roger Arnold.(Source)

Dykes believed the government had control of many things, including a dog track he frequented in the
Florida Panhandle. Arnold said (Source) that Dykes believed if a dog was getting too far ahead
and wasn't supposed to win, the government would shock it.

Ronda Wilbur (source), a neighbor of Dykes who said the man beat her dog to death last year
with a pipe, said she was relieved to be done with the stress of knowing Dykes was patrolling his
yard and willing to shoot at anyone or anything that trespassed.

the anti-government movement during the unwarranted government issued vietnam war created and brought back a bunch of crazies.

or perhaps it was 'talk radio' in the 60's that created the crazies...huh?

give me a break!!!!

again.............just collateral damage from a war  mongering corrupt government that still exists today.

and yet again...........talk to some folks who work at va hospitals! they have stories that will make yer toes curl!! a government issued hospital that don't even take care of their vietnam vets other than giving them mind altering drugs!!

a 60 something guy we know... (vietnam vet)... just got done with shock treatments last week....TRUE!!! And it wasn't from talk radio!!!

so don't talk to us about ANTI-GOVERNMENT! We WON'T be brainwashed like the folks in the 60's who were forced to fight in an unwarranted, politcal war were!! k?
