Woman in Parsippany murder-suicide was Belleville grad Friday February 1, 2013, 8:48 PM BY ROMAN J. USCHAK STAFF WRITER Belleville Times
A woman killed in a Parsippany murder-suicide earlier this week was a Belleville High School graduate, her family said.
Rosaria Andraka, 43, was found dead along with her husband Chester, at their home on Medford Drive Monday. According to Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Rosaria Andraka died of a gunshot wound, and her husband, 46, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
When contacted by the Times, Rosaria's parents, who live in Belleville's first ward, declined to be interviewed. However her father, Vincenzo Vinci, confirmed his daughter graduated from Belleville High School, although could not recall what year.
Chester Andraka, who grew up in Bloomfield, was a retired Caldwell police officer. Both Andrakas worked at Fairleigh Dickinson University, at its Florham campus, she as an Honors Program administrator and advisor, he as an adjunct professor.
Dr. Brian Mauro, associate provost at FDU, believed that Rosaria had worked at the college for some eight or nine years.
"It was a number of years before I started," he said on Thursday.
According to her profile at LinkedIn.com, Rosaria, a Berkeley College graduate, started at FDU as assistant to the chair in July 2004. She then became an advisement counselor in Nov. 2006, before moving up to the Honors Program in Jan. 2012.
"She was a terrific person - beautiful, intelligent, kind, charismatic," said Mauro. "I could go on and on like everybody else. We're just really mourning her loss and missing her."
Chester was a 1984 graduate of Bloomfield High School, said Karen Delli Santi. They both grew up together on Bloomfield's Baldwin Street.
"He was always a good kid in school. He would do anything for you," Delli Santi told Bloomfield Life. "I don't think I ever even heard him curse."
She said she saw Chester with his wife at class reunions, with nothing remiss.
"They were a great couple. They were kind of soul mates," said Delli Santi. "It's like a bad movie. Who wrote this ending?
"His wife was absolutely wonderful inside and out. And the kids are great," she said.
Their two children are in college, she added.
Although she didn't personally know Rosaria, First Ward Councilwoman Marie Strumolo Burke said she'd met her parents while campaigning.
"It's a travesty," Strumolo Burke said of her death.
Police in Parsippany were alerted to the case by a phone call from Chester Andraka's employer, when he failed to show up for work. Police observed a body on a couch through a window, and forcibly entered the home, where they discovered the bodies.
Investigators have not yet offered a motive.

You are the genius that wants retired cops to keep their weapons.
I do???

In stead of posting on "issues" you post about me.
IMO, police officers, once retired, should follow the same rules as the rest of us. So your lame "You know you do" is about as accurate as the rest of your posts.

they guy holding the 6 year old in the bunker, is a 65 year old vietnam vet....probably trying to rationalize this life after being called a baby killer, or just doesn't fit in anymore...my guess is the next gun removal try will be for anyone who served in active duty.
You just never know when that 'break' might happen and you sure don't want REAL trained folks to show up the authorities
