Cic and his crew are "outsiders".  They sit outside the mainstream, contributing nothing, taking all they can
get, and complaining about all of it.
The only solutions that they offer are destructive... tearing it down, and building nothing for anyone.

They see themselves as 'self sufficient, yet every day of their lives they depend on the rest of us to
'provide for them'.
There are countries out there that offer them exactly what they want in a government.
No services, no taxes, no infrastructure... but they don't travel to these utopias, they just sit here and
type about how 'oppressed' they are.
They are (reasonably) educated in spite of themselves.  They live in a high standard of living, with a very
good infrastructure, they are taxed lower than most Americans have been throughout history... they have
what people from the third world can only dream about... yet they despise it.

I wish that Cic and company were transported to their 'dream government' and forced to live there
for one month.  No one to take care of them... no one to protect them... no one but themselves.
In the first week they'd likely come down with dysentery from the polluted water, with no 'real' doctors
for miles, they'd sit outside the local hospital puking and poopin' but not allowed in the hospital until they
paid the admitting clerk a bribe.  Once inside they'd see a "doctor" (actually a 1st year medical student)
who would give them some overpriced pills that are no more than ground up charcoal and aspirin.
While in the hospital their belongings would be stolen and the local police (who stole their belongings)
would shake their heads and tell them they'll get right on it.
Without their credit cards, passport and identification, they'd go crawling to the nearest American embassy
with tears in their eyes and beg, cry and plead for THEIR GOVERNMENT to rescue them.
Unfortunately, THEIR GOVERNMENT, the one that they hate so much, will help get them back home.

Once back in the USA, they'd start complaining all over again about THEIR GOVERNMENT!

Truly a pathetic bunch.

Yes, hyperbole...Follow the thread and try to understand context.  I was mocking how everybody in the world is demonized and considered an enemy to the United States.  It makes it easier to execute wars over sea's if Americans are convinced our "enemies" are less human than Americans.  That's why drone attacks that kill a 16 year old American citizen(a muslim) and the hundreds of other dead children(muslims) go without one tear shed by most Americans.  That's because thier lives are less valuable.

BTW, what is your definition of "butt buddy"?  This should be interesting.

Very good post box.  Though I disagree with every word of it, I can appreciate the effort.  It would have made for good Soviet propaganda in 1988 before the collapse.

Box's post basically says that the American standard of living is a direct result of the governments ability to use the power of coercion.  Essentially nothing you see today would exist without the government and America today would resemble Somalia.   I guess the other side of that argument would be that the strongest form of government or totalitarian government(Soviet Union) would then produce the HIGHEST standard of living.

Backpedaling from homophobic remarks.

Off topic.

Quotes from Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, criminal prosecutor for the District of Columbia from 2007-09.

In the wake of the horrific elementary-school shootings in Newtown, Conn., last month, many Americans,
desperate to do something in response, have decided that much stricter gun control is the answer. Democrats
have proposed reinstating the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein has proposed legislation
that would even restrict the use of some semiautomatic handguns.

    [...]

The D.C. gun ban, enacted in 1976, prohibited anyone other than law-enforcement officers from carrying
a firearm in the city. Residents were even barred from keeping guns in their homes for self-defense.

    [...]

The gun ban had an unintended effect: It emboldened criminals because they knew that law-abiding
District residents were unarmed and powerless to defend themselves. Violent crime increased after the
law was enacted, with homicides rising to 369 in 1988, from 188 in 1976 when the ban started. By 1993,
annual homicides had reached 454.

The Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department also waged a war on firearms by creating a
special Gun Recovery Unit in 1995. The campaign meant that officers were obliged to spend time
searching otherwise law-abiding citizens. That same year, the department launched a crackdown called
Operation Cease Fire to rid the District of illegal firearms. But after four months, officers had confiscated
only 282 guns out of the many thousands in the city.

Civil liberties were endangered. Legislative changes empowered judges to hold gun suspects in pretrial
detention without bond for up to 100 days, and efforts were made to enact curfews and seize automobiles
found to contain firearms. In 1997, Police Chief Charles Ramsey disbanded the unit so that he could
assign more uniformed officers to patrol the streets instead, but the police periodically tried other gun
crackdowns over the next decade—with little effect.

In 2007, a panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled that the city’s gun ban was
unconstitutional. Senior Judge Laurence H. Silberman wrote in the majority opinion that “the black
market for handguns in the District is so strong that handguns are readily available (probably at little
premium) to criminals. It is asserted, therefore that the D.C. gun control laws irrationally prevent only
law abiding citizens from owning handguns.”

The ruling was affirmed the following year by the Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller.
Justice Antonin Scalia’s majority opinion said that citizens were guaranteed a right to keep firearms
that were in common use in their homes for self-defense, but that the government could pass
reasonable regulations concerning firearms and ammunition.

Heller created a panic among gun-control advocates because it condoned the ownership of
semiautomatic handguns, which are among the most common firearms in use but also the target
of many restriction efforts. Supporters of the District gun ban maintained that because a semiautomatic
handgun could potentially be converted into a machine gun—a class of firearms not expressly
protected by Heller—they were in fact machine guns and therefore not protected by the Second
Amendment. In response, Congress threatened to pass a law that specified the legality of
semiautomatic handguns in the District. To avoid the embarrassment of being dictated to by
Congress, the D.C. Council passed emergency legislation in September 2008 amending the gun
ban to allow ownership of semiautomatic handguns for home defense.

Since the gun ban was struck down, murders in the District have steadily gone down, from 186 in
2008 to 88 in 2012
, the lowest number since the law was enacted in 1976. The decline resulted from
a variety of factors, but losing the gun ban certainly did not produce the rise in murders that many
might have expected.

The urge to drastically restrict firearms after mass murders like those at Sandy Hook Elementary
School last month and in Aurora, Colo., in July, is understandable. In effect, many people would like
to apply the District’s legal philosophy on firearms to the entire nation. Based on what happened in
Washington, I think that would be a mistake. Any sense of safety and security would be a false one.

Cicero is legendary for missing the point (or deflecting the point) of a post.

My post was about Cicero's dream for a Utopian government.  America's standard of living was created
by a multitude of factors... government, private industry, philanthropy, etc.

Cicero's view would make Somalia look like a paradise.

Somalia Primary Education
Education opportunities in Somalia are limited outside major urban areas and gender representation
among both educators and students remains skewed. Schools are regularly semi-financed by parents
too, and that makes it even harder for a poor child to enter the school system.

The 4 years of primary education (ages 6-10) feature 9 compulsory subjects taught in Somali.
From grade 2, English is a second language subject.

Somalia has a literacy rate of 37%, mostly due to Government financed Compulsory Education
before the Civil War.

It's infant mortality rate is 3rd highest in the world, and life expectancy is roughly 50 for those
who survive their first year.

In Cicero's 'perfect government' much of what the citizens of Somalia receive from their government
would be considered 'frivolous' and would be eliminated.

In Cicero's 'perfect government'

There is no place that "perfect government" exists except in his narrow minded world, and do not discount that the perfection will change based on his desire to revise it to meet his agenda.

So if I go around kicking pregnant women in the stomach, all I can get is assault?

The answer is no. The Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-212) is a United States law which
recognizes a child in utero as a legal victim
, if he or she is injured or killed during the commission of any of over
60 listed federal crimes of violence.

How can this be? The laws seem to conflict. A fetus is recognized as a child and a legal victim if aborted by another person,
but not when the other person gives permission?

Yet one more TeaBagger law enacted in opposition to the US Constitution.

Quoted Text
The Unborn Victims of Violence Act is invalid on grounds that the U.S. Supreme
Court's Roe v. Wade decision said that the human fetus is not a "person" under
the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, and that if the fetus were a Fourteenth
Amendment "person," then he or she would have a constitutional right to life.
