How did this topic turn into Australia's gun laws, oh I see

FACTS Cicero... FACTS???

~The estimated total number of guns held by civilians in Australia is 3,050,0001 to 3,500,0002
~There are reportedly 172,4227 handguns in civilian possession in Australia.
~In Australia, carrying a firearm in plain view in a public place is prohibited without genuine reason.
In law, personal protection is not a genuine reason
~In Australia, firearms must be kept at home in a locked safe bolted to the floor and separate from
ammunition. You can obtain a licence to carry a firearm if it's needed for employment, sport or
primary industry.

Fact?  I am citing facts.  I can't help it that you refuse to acknowledge the increased assault rate that resulted after the government passed strict gun regulations.  Well...You did acknowledge it, it sounded like you viewed the increase in the assault rate as an acceptable result for lower gun deaths.  Your argument is always specific to gun deaths, and you never acknowledge other violent crimes that are prevented because of the uncertainty of who does and doesn't have a gun.  When the criminal can be reasonably assured that a person is disarmed, it gives them all the more confidence to assault the disarmed victim.

That's what happens when a person warps their mind to think collectively.  They could care less about the weak individuals in society that are now a victims of violent crimes because of the gun restrictions that disarm them.  It's all about dropping the collective "gun death" rate by a few percentage points.   And they'll beat you over the head with the collective statistic to push the state agenda.

Cic... given the choice, would you rather be on:
#1 the list of those MURDERED,
or
#2 the list of those ASSAULTED?

The Murder rate went way down... and Assaults went up.
Those who would have been on the MURDERED list are now alive and on the Assaulted list.

philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Box, I wish your assault to gun death statistics were proportional.  If you really want to cite statistic try to be honest.  If you look at the gun death statistics, you will see that the number of annual gun deaths in 1996 and compare it to 2007 you will see there were 279 less gun deaths in 2007.  NOW, if you look at assault and if your theory is correct that people are being assaulted instead of killed by a gun, then the relation should be proportional.   If you read the graph provided by the Australian Institute of Criminology you will see that there were approximately 72,000 MORE assaults in 2007 than in 1996.  That is MANY TIMES MORE people being assaulted, actually hundreds of times the amount of people are now being assaulted than the 279 less people being killed by guns as a result of the government gun grab.

So your assault to gun death conclusion isn't even close to accurate.  What really happened is that the Australians were disarmed which may have saved a few hundred lives a year(which is great), but the price paid is that tens of thousands of Australians are now victims of violent assault because violent criminals are confident that the non-violent law abiding people do not have a weapon to defend themselves from their assault.

Box apparently would be fine with a government policy that resulted in 72,000 MORE people per year being victimized by assault than 279 people die defending themselves from assault.

When Crest toothpaste says 9 out of 10 dentist choose Crest do you really believe it as fact?

I can't help a thin skinned SISSY(you deserve the real spelling) that doesn't understand rules of debate.  I don't have time to hold your hand and walk you through it.

No Cissy, not looking for anything from you. You've proved yourself....and please drop the debate crap. You don't want to have debates on issues or open honest discussions....you just want to use what people say and twist it to be the Cicero platform. You fling insults but if someone insults you it's against your rules. You make sicko comments, and intend them that way, but call them hyperbole. I have several times injected honest statements or comments only to have you divert them to meet your chest thumping needs. Your comment about 9 of 10 referring to rapists is repulsive and offensive, but then again, you have no concern about offending people....you strive on it. Yah, it's pi$$ing me off, because I have a friend that was raped, and it's not something to joke about or refer to lightly then call it a hyperbole...BULL!  I cannot find one post of yours that was an open minded discussion....it's always about you and the only thing that you believe...CISSY WORLD!
Have a nice evening.

9 out of 10 rapists preferring an unarmed society sounds very believable.

9 out of 10 car jackers probably do too.

9 out of 10 armed robbers surely do.

9 out of 10 burglars would also prefer unarmed homeowners.

It's probably closer to 10 out of 10, but there is likely a random idiot criminal that wants to make it sporting.

I'll bet 9 out of 10 criminals in general would like an unarmed society.

Australia banned guns and they have more sexual assaults per capita than any state in the US.

It's not proof, it's just a statistic, but stats are proof for Box. Well really only when they favor his position.

Apparently home invading rapists are the new craze in Australia, thanks to the gun ban.

Nanny raped by home intruder in WA

Date Sep. 17, 2010

A Perth man who forced his way into a home and sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman is on the run from police.

The alleged attack happened on Friday at 12.15pm (WST) at a home in Mosman Park in Perth's western suburbs.

Police say the German woman, who is working in Australia as a nanny, answered the front door when the man forced
his way into the house wielding a knife.

The man fled after sexually assaulting the woman.

The six-month-old baby who the woman was looking after was not harmed during the incident.

The attacker is described as being Caucasian, in his 50s and balding.

He was wearing jeans and a polo shirt.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
