There are tons of VPNs the Chinese use every day to access the rest of the world.
All the Chinese authorities will see is a person's computer connected to a VPN and data transferred back to them using 128 bit encryption. Some even offer the retrieved data sent in packets of 100mbs each because even while encrypted, file sizes give clues as to the content.
China is working to stop VPN usage but it currently is still operating through several sites.

Believe it or not, China internet users are 22% of the entire world online.
They have 538 million internet users. That's 65% more internet users than the US has in total people.
The US has only 245 million users. That's less than half as many users as China.
Aside from the US, India, Japan and Brazil, China has approx. 10 times as many users as any other country in the world.

I watched Meet the Press for about ten minutes this morning...I had to turn it off when Ted Koppel and Bob Woodward started competing for who could stoke up more fear. They talked about Iran, Syria, Mali, Western Africa, Afghanistan, and Ted Koppel actually said this is one of the most dangerous times in American History. I kid you not. The fear propaganda isn't left or right, it's all about preservation of the state. And nothing creates intense nationalism like a scary "bad guy".
