PUEBLO, Colo. -
New information is emerging about a person of interest in a string of armed robberies in Pueblo.
Alfred Montano, 25, was arrested Saturday after a home invasion investigation. Police say Montano broke into an elderly couple's home in Pueblo in December. It happened on the 2000 block of Carlee Drive the night of December 27. Joe Trujillo, 81, told police he and his wife were sitting in their living room when a young, Hispanic man approached them from one of the bedrooms, carrying a gun. Trujillo says the man tied them up, took their cash and stole their car.
Three weeks later, detectives were working on leads about several armed robberies in Pueblo when Brandon Ballagut-Wertsbaugh told police Montano was responsible for several of the robberies in Pueblo. Ballagut later confessed to being responsible for one of those robberies. Police found Montano the next day in Fowler.
Montano was arrested on suspicion of theft by receiving, a class three felony. Bond for Monanto has been set at $250 thousand.
