West Point study on ‘violent far right’ shows dramatic rise in attacks

Quoted Text
A report published by the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point Military Academy on
Jan. 15 discusses the potential dangers of “violent far-right” organizations, which has angered
some conservatives that believe the military should focus on international threats.

“Since 2007, there has been a dramatic rise in the number of attacks and violent plots originating
from individuals and groups who self- identify with the far-right of American politics.”

Written by Arie Perliger, Director of Terrorism Studies at the Combating Terrorism Center and an
Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Sciences at West Point, the paper asserts that
three distinct ideologies exist in the “American violent far right.”
~Those are “a racist/white supremacy movement,
~ an anti-federalist movement
~ and a fundamentalist movement,” the last of which “includes mainly Christian
Identity groins such as the Aryan Nations.”

“Findings indicate that…it is not only feelings of deprivation that motivate those involved in far
right violence, but also the sense of empowerment that emerges when the political system is
perceived to be increasingly permissive to far right ideas”.

The rise in attacks in the 21st century were significant, as “Although in the 1990s the average
number of attacks per year was 70.1, the average number of attacks per year in the first 11
years of the twenty-first century was 307.5, a rise of more than 400%.”

Quoted Text
The study also found that “presidential election years and the preceding year are
characterized by an increase of far-right violence,” leading the author to conclude
that “in general, far-right groups and individuals are more inclined to engage in
violence in a contentious political climate.”

Maybe I'd find Sarah Palin under that bed too... She used this information to DISARM an ALASKA MILITIA!

(If Sarah is under the bed... don't expect a response for at least a few hours!)

Actually I think I would need a huge dose of Viagra to do Palin.  There is something about doin the
totally clueless that takes away from the experience.  She is pretty, but if she opens her mouth
for anything other than oral sex... it's a definite turn off!

One of the core issues with the extreme right is that while they espouse individual
freedom and like to try and spread fear regarding the government’s activities, they also seem to
believe in a type of authoritarianism—one of the very things they profess to loathe in government
—that includes a strong resistance to authority from what they view as “outgroups,” namely blacks
and women, unions, and more.

They also seem to view the Constitution as a static document, unchanging despite the way society
has changed over the last 230 years, and want laws made and judges to rule based on the original
intent of the document. Here’s the issue with that: When it comes to the 2nd Amendment (for
example), the original intent of the amendment was to preserve slavery. The words, “A well regulated
Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State…” refer to the freedom of white men in the
southern states to own slaves, and to police those slaves with their militias as they saw fit. The
original intent was not to ensure the people’s freedom from a tyrannical government, which is
what every gun-rights activist espouses today.

Given that slavery hasn’t existed here for more than 150 years, the original intent of the 2nd
Amendment is not applicable to today’s society. The extreme right, however, would argue that
we are becoming slaves of the government, if we aren’t already, with anecdotes and paranoia
fueling their claims.

According to an article published on CNN in August 2012, eight attacks perpetrated by extreme
right-wingers
have been carried out in the U.S. since 9/11, compared with four carried out
by Islamic jihadists.
It makes mention, however, of more than 50 attacks by white supremacists.

L4Life seems to have a very difficult time today of staying on topic...
His ramblings seem to cross all threads as if they all were one.

SO  is it "domestic terrorists" (the subject of this thread) or is it Gun Murders (the subject of your
post hijack) that you'd like to discuss???
Or is your aim to distort all threads by cross posting subjects.

Why not bring in "Anti Aborting, GunHugging, Domestic Terrorists" and you cans have a 3fer!

Comprehension and association are apparently not your area of expertise.

I will explain the relationship to you that I was demonstrating.

Hysterical Little Girls hyping up everyone with evil terror behind every corner is really an
insignificant little nothing, to anyone who can see that the sky is not really falling.

The war on terror is a meaningless joke designed to take control of society and steal trillions
from the panicked taxpayers who need to be protected from the falling sky.

The war on terror is really a just a show for the morons eager to surrender their rights and
money to their saviors.

Therefore Terrorism = * Yawnism *

Now it's my turn:
L4Life...Comprehension and association are apparently not your area of expertise, for sure.

Domestic terrorism and "the war on terror" are two very distinct issues, with two very distinct different
terrorists fighting for two very distinctly different ideologies.

I don't associate the two except in the general way that they both use terrorism to force
their twisted agenda.

See note below to differentiate between the two:

War on terror, AlQaeda:

Now,
Domestic Terrorists:

Domestic terrorism and "the war on terror"  combined are miniscule in the scope of things.

They just draw the hyperactive fears of hysterical little girls demanding to be kept safe from them.

Don't be negative about porn, it paid for the infrastructure that is known as the internet.

Want to see a picture of what L4Life considers  MINUSCULE?

The toll eventually reached 168 confirmed dead, not including an unmatched leg that could have
belonged to a possible, unidentified 169th victim...
All of them are L4Life's "hysterical little girls"
