Police Investigate Bomb Threat Found at a Belchertown School January 3rd, 2013
Jabish Brook Middle School BelchertownBELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WGGB) — Belchertown police say they were called to the Jabish Brook Middle School this afternoon after a bomb threat was found.
That’s according to Police Chief, Francis Fox who told us that after school was released today, a teacher found a threat written in a bathroom at the middle school located at 62 North Washington Street.
The threat mentioned a bomb being at the school tomorrow.
Fox says the school was evacuated and the State Police Bomb squad along with a K-9 unit did do a sweep of the building. After a search of both the interior and exterior, police did not find any kind of dangerous device on the premises.
The school remains closed for the rest of the evening, but will re-open as usual in the morning at 7:00 a.m.
Fox adds that for precautionary reasons there will be extra police at the school tomorrow.
The incident remains under investigation by authorities.
