PERTH AMBOY – A bomb threat forced the early dismissal and cancelation of after-school activities at Perth Amboy High School on Friday, an official said.
Police Capt. Tibor Kacso told mycentraljersey.com school school was dismissed at about 2:45 p.m. after a written message containing the word “bomb” was found in a second-floor bathroom.
Officials posted this message on the district website: “All high school after school activities are cancelled today due to an on-going police investigation.”
Students were allowed to return to the Eagle Avenue school at 8 a.m. Saturday to retrieve their belongings as police continued to investigat the threat.
According to the media report, Kacso said the message was found during the school’s ninth period, which is near the end of the school day.
A wrestling match was one of the after-school events canceled, according to the report.
Staff members were reportedly allowed to re-enter the building in the late afternoon, according to the report. |
