Stalking suspect dead after overpowering arresting officer, taking gun, wounding 3 Published December 28, 2012 Associated Press A man who had been arrested for allegedly stalking an ex-girlfriend overpowered an officer inside a police station, grabbed her gun and shot her and two other officers before being killed by police early Friday, authorities said. All three wounded officers were expected to recover. Eddie Jones III, 39, of Willingboro, overpowered Officer Ruth Burns inside the station in Gloucester Township, a Philadelphia suburb, police said. He fired at her and two officers who had been in a nearby room and came rushing to aid their colleague. The two officers fired on Jones, killing him. "This morning, the reality of a cruel world fell upon our doorstep," said Mayor David Mayer. "We thank God our officers are expected to fully recover." Sgt. James Garber was shot multiple times and underwent emergency surgery for a gunshot wound to the abdomen; his life was saved by a bulletproof vest. He also suffered a graze wound to the head. Sgt. Kevin Thine suffered a laceration to his abdomen and a graze wound to the chin. Burns was shot in the foot. Jones, a civilian employee of the New Jersey Department of Corrections, had been arrested for stalking the home of a former girlfriend after a caller told police they saw a suspicious man lurking at about 1 a.m. He was brought back to police headquarters and when his handcuffs were removed for a brief period during processing, he lunged at Burns, knocking her down and taking her weapon, police Chief Harry Earle said. The suspect "unleashed a barrage of gunfire" at the officers, Earle said. Jones was struck multiple times by return fire and was pronounced dead at the scene, the chief said. The shooting will be reviewed by the state attorney general, as is customary with all shootings involving police officers. But Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk said initial evidence shows that the officers responded to gunfire that was initiated by the suspect, and returned fire to save their lives and those of other officers in the building. Huh! The cops were shot with their own gun. If the cops didn't have guns, this tragedy wouldn't have happened. If they had non-lethal weapons nobody would be dead. That is liberal logic. Ban guns for cops. |

FINALLY! CICERO GETS IT!
Ok, then lets have cops start turning in their weapons. I'm all for it. Then women that are subjected to domestic violence from men that are bigger and stronger than them can hopefully call the police while their partner is choking(since there are no guns) them to death. Don't want to give a woman a weapon to equalize the strenth disadvantage, that would be dangerous to society. All this anti-gun talk is really a war on abused women. |

In Cicero's world, domestic violence victims, who's attackers are armed with a gun, would have no one to call in an attack... Cic would disarm the police, so she would be left to the mercy of her attacker and the NRA! |

clearly if the woman was armed......there would be less of these discussions. And no need to call the cops until 'after'!!
Cops have way way too much power and control over the people. Just as the government. Folks were brainwashed into believing that they not only could not govern themselves....they were also brainwashed into thinking they also could not defend or protect themselves.........BULLSH!T!!
If an intruder comes into my home flashing a gun or knife or anything else that would be a threat to my family......i ain't taking time to call the cops........i'm reaching for my gun......plain and simple!!! Don't need a cop to defend me when we can clearly defend ourselves.........NO BAINER!!
but hey........if anyone feels defenseless and believe that they can not defend themselves.....then by all means dial 911!! Just remember.....the cops usually arrive AFTER the robbery....murder.....fire.....rape.....blah blah blah.....they are not here to 'protect preemptively'....their main job is to gather the facts/evidence AFTER the crime happened! |

It is not uncommon for a gun owner to freeze and not pull the trigger, even in a violent attack. In those cases, you'd have an unarmed attacker... now being armed using the victims gun. |

What do they do without a gun? Are people more willing to get in a knife fight or fist fight? Is that the conclusion I'm supposed to come to? Or are the victims supposed to learn how to get on their knees and beg for mercy? |

In Cicero's gun infested world, it's either Shoot em, or "get on your knees and beg for mercy". That's how he pictures life in America. Sad. |

Box offers the intruder his wife and daughter. Much more liberal response. |
