Henry, let me address your response, since question was directed to your comment. I fail to understand how if someone has a criminal record and that prevents them from buying a gun becuase of the background check, how is that "presume guilt"? They ahve a record and have been convicted, so I don't understand why that would be presumed. I understand the assumption of "future" but wihout seeing the details of the background checks being proposed, aren't we assuming their invasivness and requiring the Government prove they are not? Look, I think background checks are improtant and need to be in-place and be managed/outlined intelligently. Some controls have to be implemented. Wil it stop all criminals from buying guns....NO. Will it 100% guaruntee no future crimes with guns...NO! I am not so naive to believe that. But if done right and it does save some lives and does keep the guns out of the hands of some of those that would commit murder, etc. becuase they are already convicted of crimes, then isn't it at least worth taking a chance. Soimething has to be done different than today.....not sweeping changes, but at least something.
Laws do not save lives that is the 1st thing people must understand. Also they wish all private sales to be subject to these checks, that means you can't sell your gun to a close friend or surprise your kid with his 1st 22 cal rifle at Christmas without having to subject them to paperwork and government interference. I have no problem with background checks at gun stores but private sales should not be regulated by the government, I believe it is no business of the government to know what the people have, the less they know the better.

Seems we are not far apart...however, Laws have saved lives. It's just that with the gun debate, that has overshadowed any laws that have been beneficial to the preservation of life. I understand where you are coming from with the private sales....but again, the majority suffer for the few. You might be the most honorable man in the world and would never think of selling a gun to a convicted felon or known criminal. Unfortunately you and I are a minority in that category. Without the background check on all sales, what failsafe is there for a friend to go buy a gun (because a friend with a less than stellar past asked him to do it as a favor) and then turn it around to this character. I think that is the crux of why private sales are being included in the process. Not saying it's fair, right or wrong...just saying. It's like everything we experience in life, the clear minded majority always suffer because of the sick minded losers.
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!

Laws are only as good as those willing to follow them, if everyone followed the laws we would have a crime free utopia but we both know that isn't happening. What they're trying to do is chip away at our rights little by little, the real bad part is only law abiding citizens will suffer by it not the criminals. How many shooting have been in gun free zones where people were defenseless because they were the only ones following the rules. How many women were killed by crazy ex lovers while waiting for over a year for their permission slip to buy a pistol. Right now I truly believe the gun laws (especially in NY) are putting us in more danger then they are keeping us safe.

Fair enough...we tend to agree to some degree and not overall, but that's perfectly fine.... it shows we are free to think and evaluate individually instead of following the lead of others. PEACE and "reload" !!!!

NYS may be in for a surprise when they see how few weapons will be registered into their new data system.
Nobody I talked to will be registering their guns, they are willing to be criminals to the eyes of the state to defend their rights.

Most are like minded but even those I know who are left leaning don't like the bill and consider it unconstitutional.

Adolphus Busch IV Resigns From NRA After Gun Control Defeat In Senate
Quoted Text
WASHINGTON -- Adolphus Busch IV, heir to the Busch family brewing fortune, resigned his lifetime membership in the National Rifle Association on Thursday, writing in a letter to NRA President David Keene, "I fail to see how the NRA can disregard the overwhelming will of its members who see background checks as reasonable."
The resignation, first reported by KSDK, came a day after the Senate rejected a series of amendments to a gun control bill, including a bipartisan deal to expand background checks for gun sales. The NRA had vigorously opposed all those measures.
"The NRA I see today has undermined the values upon which it was established," wrote Busch. "Your current strategic focus clearly places priority on the needs of gun and ammunition manufacturers while disregarding the opinions of your 4 million individual members."
The NRA eats it's own.

So I guess there isn't any fully auto rifles out there...Let's move along now.

The weapon that he used is a semi-automatic. If he used a device or not, it still doesn't change the blinding fact that the trigger has to be depressed and released in order to set and fire another round. If you want to make an issue about bump stops, that's fine but this isn't an issue about that. Now again I'll ask you, please show me a 'military style' assault weapon that is legal to purchase and fully automatic.
No Buck You're Wrong. The weapon used IS a semi automatic. But your following statement is incorrect if a bump stock is used: " If he used a device or not, it still doesn't change the blinding fact that the trigger has to be depressed and released in order to set and fire another round". With the bump stock, you pull the trigger ONCE and it will keep firing until you let go of the trigger or you run out of ammo. as per the video.

Nope you are wrong, the trigger is being pulled for every round fired, the stock just bump fires it but it is still operating the same way as any other semi-auto. Even the ATF gives the ok for this because it just simulates full auto it is not full auto.
