To reiterate, I am fully aware of Selective Services and the government's authority to instate a military draft.  The point being made is, prior to 1964 there was no NEED to have a military draft because the government's army was not over extended.  The draft only went into effect AFTER the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution(based on an incident that we now know is a lie) to fill for the shortages created by the rapid escalation of deployment into Vietnam that was authorized by the GoT Resolution.

Is that clear enough?  Or are you going to pick one sentence out of the entire post and argue it without context?  That has been the pattern.

How about we take YOUR above paragraph and compare YOUR words to the actual facts.
Below the number of US troops inducted into the US military by the Selective Services system (the Draft)
by year of induction:

INDUCTION STATISTICS

The following shows the numbers of men who entered military service through the Selective Service
System during major 20th century conflicts in which the U.S. was engaged.

Inductions (by year) from 1947 through the end of the draft (1973)

Year:     Number of Inductions
1947:         0
1948:  20,348
1949:    9,781
1950: 219,771
1951: 551,806
1952: 438,479
1953: 471,806
1954: 253,230
1955: 152,777
1956: 137,940
1957: 138,504
1958: 142,246
1959:   96,153
1960:   86,602
1961: 118,586
1962: 82,060
1963: 119,265
1964: 112,386
1965: 230,991
1966: 382,010
1967: 228,263
1968: 296,406
1969: 283,586
1970: 162,746
1971:  94,092
1972:  49,514
1973:      646

So Cicero... These are the FACTS.  The last year that no Americans were drafted was 1947...
Every year after that, until the 1973 end of the draft... millions of men were drafted into the
US military.
Here is your position:
To reiterate, I am fully aware of Selective Services and the government's authority to instate
a military draft.  The point being made is, prior to 1964 there was no NEED to have a military
draft
because the government's army was not over extended.  The draft only went into
effect AFTER the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution
to fill for the shortages created by the rapid
escalation of deployment into Vietnam that was authorized by the GoT Resolution.

Your position, that there was no draft until the G O T Resolution is totally false... and millions
of DRAFTED American Men posted by year they were inducted proves that fact.
As you posted above:
Is that clear enough?

2 cousins "drafted" prior to 1964....so how do you explain that?

Maybe they were drafted under the Selective Service and Traning Act.   My understanding is that a drafted person under that act had to remain in the Western Hemisphere or in United States possessions or territories located in other parts of the world.

No, they were drafted into the regular Army, STSA was repealed after 1947. 1 stayed stateside and one went to Germany.
I'm providing personal facts but you simply can't accept them. You have to find a way to twist it to serve your agenda, even when it doesn't.
"The Selective Service Act of 1948, also known as the Elston Act (Pub.L. 80-759, 62 Stat. 604, enacted June 24, 194, was a major revision of the Articles of War of the United States and established the current implementation of the Selective Service System. The previous Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 (STSA) was repealed by the Act of March 31, 1947, liquidated, and replaced by a new and distinct Selective Service System established by this Act.[1]"

"The second peacetime draft began with passage of the Selective Service Act of 1948 after the STSA expired."

Yer right box, the 1969 lottery draft was just business as usual for the federal government.  The 550k troops deployed to Vietnam after 1964 had nothing to do with it.  It would have happened anyway.

I'm waiting for you to defend the gulf of Tonkin resolution.  You've focused on disproving the draft, but you haven't challenged the GoT lie.

Of course I don't challenge the G of T resolution... it was an excuse to go to war... with out it, Johnson would
have found another "incident" but US policy was committed to preserving the South and fighting Communism in
SE Asia.
From the end of WW2, the US was involved in fighting communism in the region...
The vast majority of the American public backed the war.  Only 2 US Senators voted against the G or T.
*******************************************************************************

Now back to your statement.  I'M STILL WAITING FOR YOUR RETRACTION...
It isn't difficult... admitting a mistake is a sign of character, not a sign of weakness...
Your statement on the draft was factually wrong... we probably agree on much of your views of the GofT.

WOW........talk about a 'redirect'.....

Redirecting to the 'draft' issue when obviously avoiding the FACT that men and women in government issued uniforms fought and died to preserve a LIE!!!!

Draft or no draft.........millions died because they believed the government lie!!

the draft dodgers clearly knew the truth and were punished for it!!!

No, the redirect is that the thread was intended as a discussion focused on the school shooting, but some members decided to take it in directions of Vietnam and Government conspiracies!

I didn't take it to "conspiracies", I gave the example of a known lie(false flag)that escalated a war causing HUGE casualties.

Just like in 2012 as was in the 60's - if you question a secret kill list and extrajudical execution, you must be a "terrorist sypathizer" if you dont buy into the states jingoism - if you questioned the justification of the Vietnam war, you were looked at as suspicious and even communist sympathizer.  Or called a long haired draft dodging hippie.

I'd rather be called a conspiracy theorist than be frog marched into wars waged based on lies.  I have thick skin, I can handle the name  calling.

What confuses me, and the whole point of my response to joebxr and his silly conspiracy post, was to point out that the government has told many lies that resulted in massive casualties.  Whether the Gulf of Tonkin or Iraq's WMD's.  During the buildup of both wars, the majority of population was swept up into frenzy by the war propaganda’s drum beat, and didn't question the truthfulness of the claims.  It's never until AFTER THE FACT, does the truth come out. Why would it be a conspiracy to question the events that is used by the government and pushed by the media, to regulate the 2nd Amendment as is has never been regulated to the degree of the Feinstein proposal?  The same bunch of lemmings sat around while Bush passed the Patriot Act that basically repealed the 4th Amendment.

Back to the point of my original post to joebxr's silly conspiracy posts, I brought up the false flag operations that was used to consolidate power and bring a nation to war, and as you said box, Johnson would have found another lie to bring the nation to war.  So how can a person that actually participated in a war sold on lies not have the greatest of suspicion on the "official line" of a Federal Agency?  These lies resulted in the death of MILLIONS of people.  Do you actually think the people in government are scrupulous?
