The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

What a bunch of crap....It's not the guns that caused the behavior, its the people. Guns were more accessible decades ago.. the change in society has increased their use.

The writer is clueless...Did anyone ask whether Belcher obtained the gun legally? The Genie is out of the bottle... all the gun laws in the world can't put it back. If gun laws were the answer, DC would have the lowest rates in gun crime. Belcher was a world class athlete, do you really think he could have not been able to kill his girlfriend with his bare hands if he didn't have a gun?

It's just another excuse to push an agenda

Just because a guy plays football they are trying to make some larger societal meaning out of a lousy murder. Some news outlets originally reported this as a suicide.
Back when I was in school, a lot of the boys owned guns once they were old enough. They were supposedly hunting rifles, but the guys didn't really hunt, they just liked having guns, and going out in the woods to shoot at cans once in a while. Somehow, they knew enough not to bring guns to school, kill their friends if they got into an argument, or murder their girlfriends. What is different now?
