When the debates started being talked about, everyone circled Oct 11th. It's the Biden Comedy Special.
While I don't expect this to be as bad of a beatdown as last week, Paul will do very well despite the sniper shots Joe is going to take at him.

Biden is the most experienced political debater and orator since Abe Lincoln so I expect that he will blow Ryan out of the water. The expectation is that if Ryan is still conscious when it has ended then he will have met his goal after Biden gets done presenting all the the facts and figures in a clear and intelligible manner. And I wrote all of the above without resorting to a 'cut and paste.' |

There is nothing that will make Biden look smarter. The only reason he was picked as VP 4 years ago is that he was the only Democrat in the US Senate whose presence on the ticket would not upstage then Senator Obama. |

Actually, Spiro Agnew gets an undeserved bad rap. I got to know people who knew him well - his family and others in Baltimore. While I am not saying Vice President Agnew was perfect or beyond reproach, I do know that one of the principal witnesses, whose grand jury testimony led to Agnew's 1973 indictment and resignation, later recanted and said that he was pressured to testify against the Vice President and offered a very favorable plea deal (on unrelated criminal charges) in exchange for "bringing Agnew down". Furthermore, I owe Vice President Agnew and William Safire a huge debt of gratitude for helping give me the term - nayboob - which is my rephrasing of the famous phrase "nattering, nabobs of negativity". God - those were the good old days the late 1960's and early 1970's ... Johnson-Humphrey and Nixon-Agnew .... when America was more centrist and reasonable and it was ok to be a Conservative Democrat or a Liberal Republican. |
