DVOR can find an anti choice theme in a terrorist attack in Libya!

If Libya had better gun control measures and conducted background checks out all their citizens and limited magazine capacity, the Benghazi attack could have been prevented.  The LRA(libya rifle association) has blood on their hands!

White House email contradicts Benghazi leaks

Quoted Text
CNN has obtained an e-mail sent by a top aide to President Barack Obama about White House
reaction to the deadly attack last September 11 on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya,
that apparently differs from how sources characterized it to two different media organizations.

The actual e-mail from then-Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications
Ben Rhodes appears to show that whomever leaked it did so in a way that made it appear
that the White House was primarily concerned with the State Department's desire to remove
references and warnings about specific terrorist groups so as to not bring criticism to the
department.

Nixon has won Watergate: Column
Jonathan Turley 2:50 p.m. EDT March 26, 2013
Barack Obama's imperial presidency is just what his controversial predecessor wanted.

Nixon was halted in his determined effort to create an imperial presidency.
"
In 2013, Obama wields those very same powers openly and without serious opposition.
Long after Watergate, not only has the presidency changed. We have changed.

This month, I spoke at an event commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Watergate scandal with some of its survivors at the National Press Club. While much of the discussion looked back at the historic clash with President Nixon, I was struck by a different question: Who actually won? From unilateral military actions to warrantless surveillance that were key parts of the basis for Nixon's impending impeachment, the painful fact is that Barack Obama is the president that Nixon always wanted to be.

Four decades ago, Nixon was halted in his determined effort to create an "imperial presidency" with unilateral powers and privileges. In 2013, Obama wields those very same powers openly and without serious opposition. The success of Obama in acquiring the long-denied powers of Nixon is one of his most remarkable, if ignoble, accomplishments. Consider a few examples:

Warrantless surveillance

Nixon's use of warrantless surveillance led to the creation of a special court called the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA). But the reform turned out to be more form than substance. The secret court turned "probable cause" into a meaningless standard, virtually guaranteeing any surveillance the government wanted. After hundreds of thousands of applications over decades, only a couple have ever been denied.

Last month, the Supreme Court crushed any remaining illusions regarding FISA when it sided with the Obama administration in ruling that potential targets of such spying had to have proof they were spied upon before filing lawsuits, even if the government has declared such evidence to be secret. That's only the latest among dozens of lawsuits the administration has blocked while surveillance expands exponentially.

Unilateral military action

Nixon's impeachment included the charge that he evaded Congress' sole authority to declare war by invading Cambodia. In the Libyan "mission," Obama announced that only he had the inherent authority to decide what is a "war" and that so long as he called it something different, no congressional approval or even consultation was necessary. He proceeded to bomb a nation's capital, destroy military units and spend more than a billion dollars in support of one side in a civil war.

Kill lists

Nixon ordered a burglary to find evidence to use against Daniel Ellsberg, who gave the famed Pentagon Papers to the press, and later tried to imprison him. Ellsberg was later told of a secret plot by the White House "plumbers" to "incapacitate" him in a physical attack. It was a shocking revelation. That's nothing compared with Obama's assertion of the right to kill any U.S. citizen without a charge, let alone conviction, based on his sole authority. A recently leaked memo argues that the president has a right to kill a citizen even when he lacks "clear evidence (of) a specific attack" being planned.

Attacking whistle-blowers

Nixon was known for his attacks on whistle-blowers. He used the Espionage Act of 1917 to bring a rare criminal case against Ellsberg. Nixon was vilified for the abuse of the law. Obama has brought twice as many such prosecutions as all prior presidents combined. While refusing to prosecute anyone for actual torture, the Obama administration has prosecuted former CIA employee John Kiriakou for disclosing the torture program.

Other Nixonesque areas include Obama's overuse of classification laws and withholding material from Congress. There are even missing tapes. In the torture scandal, CIA officials admitted to destroying tapes that they feared could be used against them in criminal cases. Of course, Nixon had missing tapes, but Rose Mary Woods claimed to have erased them by mistake, as opposed to current officials who openly admit to intentional destruction.

Obama has not only openly asserted powers that were the grounds for Nixon's impeachment, but he has made many love him for it. More than any figure in history, Obama has been a disaster for the U.S. civil liberties movement. By coming out of the Democratic Party and assuming an iconic position, Obama has ripped the movement in half. Many Democrats and progressive activists find themselves unable to oppose Obama for the authoritarian powers he has assumed. It is not simply a case of personality trumping principle; it is a cult of personality.

Long after Watergate, not only has the presidency changed. We have changed. We have become accustomed to elements of a security state such as massive surveillance and executive authority without judicial oversight. We have finally answered a question left by Benjamin Franklin in 1787, when a Mrs. Powel confronted him after the Constitutional Convention and asked, "Well, Doctor, what have we got — a republic or a monarchy?" His chilling response: "A republic, if you can keep it."

We appear to have grown weary of the republic and traded it for promises of security from a shining political personality. Somewhere, Nixon must be wondering how it could have been this easy.

Like Obama, pres Nixon was obsessed with leaks too....... for which Nixon created the 'plumbers' unit, until some of them were arrested during the watergate scandal. So we have all the elements of a new political disaster....... a paranoid President, a program to silence and intimidattion of the press, and a cover story that changes faster and faster.

Time to dust off that DVD of 'All The President's Men'.

HISTORY DOES IN FACT REPEAT ITSELF.....just the  other side of the same coin!!!

The only problem this time is there is no 'Woodward and Bernstein' and the MSM is going out of it's way to try and protect this President.

BREAKING — CNN to OBAMA: Release Libya Emails!
May 15th, 2013
Share8Tweet5+10Share013
CNN turning too?

***UPDATE: NBC’s senior White House correspondent joined the chorus Wednesday. On his MSNBC show, “The Daily Rundown,” Chuck Todd looked into the camera and said, “Attention White House: Release all the emails.” The headline has been updated to add NBC.

Assuming they are the ones who leaked to CNN an email written by Ben Rhoades (a Deputy National Security Advisor close to the President), the White House might have been too clever by half Tuesday. An act that was obviously meant to pour water on the Benghazi fire started by an ABC News report, has only ended up being gasoline. Now both CNN and ABC have joined conservative media in calling for the White House to release all the emails surrounding the editing of the CIA talking points.

Benghazi: Where are Gen. Ham and Adm. Gaouette?
By JB Williams:

Who knows the whole truth about why Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty along with State Department officials Chris Stevens and Sean Smith died in Benghazi 11 September 2012?

It’s now public knowledge that the ever evolving official administration stories on Benghazi are all bold faced lies. It’s clear that the four Americans who were brutally murdered in Benghazi did not have to die. What’s not clear yet, is who is responsible for these murders? Nothing the Obama administration has told the people about Benghazi is true… but who is responsible?

General Carter Ham and Admiral Charles M. Gaouette know the answer to this question. Where are Ham and Gaouette today? Why hasn’t Issa’s investigative committee called these decorated Military officers to testify before the committee investigating Benghazi?

We have known since 30 October 2012 that these two officers…

1.Were ordered to STAND DOWN in Benghazi
2.Ignored those orders
3.Were relieved of duty for refusing orders to STAND DOWN
We know from the unclassified cables between Benghazi and DC and the subsequent Executive Brief, that cables were firing in all directions in the hours before and during the Benghazi attack that ended in the brutal death of four Americans.

General Ham was head of AFRICOM and Commander of the 2011 US-NATO operation to depose Gadhafi in Libya. Rear Admiral Charles M. Gaouette was in command of the Carrier Strike Group Three (CSG-3), then deployed in Middle Eastern waters during the attack on Benghazi.

Both Ham and Gaouette reported receiving the same desperate cables for additional security and backup that Obama administration officials received and ignored from Benghazi. They did not ignore those desperate calls for help ringing out from the Benghazi installation on 11 September 2012.

No, both Ham and Gaouette attempted to launch ready response teams in the region capable of provided the much needed assistance during the seven hour long assault on Benghazi. Both were then relieved of command for their actions, described by the US Military as “allegations of inappropriate leadership judgment.”http://capitolhilloutsider.com/benghazi-where-are-gen-ham-and-adm-gaouette/

Issa Is Refusing to Allow Co-Chairs of Benghazi Review to Testify

Quoted Text
The co-chairs of the Benghazi review are asking that Darrell Issa  allow them to testify
publicly, as is “appropriate”, on either May 28 or June 3.

While the rest of the media is reporting that the co-chairmen of the independent review on the Benghazi
attacks, Ambassador Thomas Pickering and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen,
have finally agreed to testify, in truth Pickering was not invited by Darell Issa (R-CA) to testify at the
televised hearing. When called out on his lies on national TV, Issa finally tried to blame the White House
for not inviting Pickering. Why wouldn’t Issa invite the co-chair of the independent review if he really
wanted to get to the bottom of what happened?

On Meet the Press last Sunday, Issa tried to smear Pickering as refusing to testify, but things didn’t go
so well for the Congressman. It turns out Pickering was waiting to speak on the show, and he denounced
firmly the notion that he had been invited to speak. In fact, he said he was told he was not welcome
by Republicans, who are the majority in the House wherein these Scadaliscious hearings took place

The type of people who believe that abortion is "just a choice" are the same type of people who believed that one person enslaving another person was "just exercising property rights" or sending millions of people to death camps in the 1930's and 1940's in Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union was "just obeying the dictator and helping the fatherland."

Obama, Pelosi, Ted Kennedy (his brothers were both Pro-Life) and even our own Paul Tonko can make all kinds of excuses for their abominable position - pro-death position - on this most important Civil Rights issue but  the FACT remains that the fetus in the mother's womb IS A HUMAN LIFE.   And if the government can pass laws to undermine our fundamental Right to Life none of the other rights enumerated in the Constitution are either safe or fully meaningful.

One day after conception, please provide the EVIDENCE of the heart beating.    I'm not going to say that I'm in favor of abortion, YOUR OPINION is based on what our religion tells us.   But where in the Bible does it say that a grouping of cells is a life?   Do you believe in female circumcision?   That is a religious belief of other religion(s), and as Americans we do NOT want other religions' beliefs forced upon us.  So, explain WHY the Catholic beliefs should be forced upon non-Catholics?

Now about the renaissance city of Schenectady, what's the matter, you avoid discussing it because you know we are all correct, the city is failing big time?   How about a stabbing in the heart of downtown on Jay St?    Huh?????    How about the DRASTIC reduction in the tax base this year on top of the DRASTIC REDUCTION in the tax last year?    You won't talk about Schenectady anymore will you, now that you have been proven wrong and you can't provide one teeny weeny shred of evidence of anything you say about the city.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
