The FACT is that there are quite a few states with county-wide school districts and the cost of public education is LOWER in those states.

That is not a fact. That is just a fabricated statement made by you.

A fact requires details like for example the actual school district that this brainstorm has ever worked in.

Furthermore, it is simple mathematics  --- it is a lot less expensive to have 1 district superintendent than it is to have 7, 1 business manager instead of 7, etc. etc.

Simple math doesn't take into account nepotism and corruption.  Plus no record exists that taxes have ever been lowered from consolidation. It merely gave them more to steal.

Finally, it is interesting that the folks who claim to be for "less government" are so opposed to an actual proposal that would provide less government.   Which leads me to conclude that the lot of you nayboobs are just plain full of crap, whiners.

I'm all for less government. The problem is that less government snake oils salesmen like yourself always claim it will lower taxes, when in fact, it has never happened.

Voices in your head offering opinions aren't facts.

And tell us how much all those new buses will cost, to bus kids where there parents want them to go??????    Huh?????   Tell us the math for THAT one.

Years ago in Schenectady, there were neighborhood schools.  No school buses whatsoever.   And they invented the magnet schools and some parents wanted to send their kids to such, wow, no9w the taxpayers had to pay for buses.   The buses, DV, were NOT FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!    Get it?????????    That MATH meant the taxes INCREASED.

MP and Linton were merged into one high school.   Gee, would you think that eliminating the need for those principals, etc, would save money????    Well, seeing as YOU have ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE whatsoever with being a taxpayer, then of course you have no idea that it actually ended up costing much more money.   You don't even have a clue.   Homeowners in the city today a paying pretty close to double the school taxes today WITH the STAR exemption than they were paying before the merger!!!!!!!!!!!!    The taxes went way way way way way up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone out there imagine this.  Magnet high schools.  Nisky would be the school with a focus on sports, all the kids who hang out all night in the city would be bused to the poshest area.   Schenectady city would be the place for the math and science theme, encouraging all the suburban kids to come into the war zone.   There's be one for acting, dancing, and singing you know.   The worst juveniles would probably be bused way out to Duanesburg, you think (escape, many hiding places).

Can you see our taxes going out of sight!   What with the buses running all over, the gas, the insurance, the wear and tear on the buses, the wear and tear on the roads.   Just the cost of kids bused all over the county will bankrupt us!!!!!!!!!!!!

But DV's Kdg level mind sees ONLY the cost of fewer superintendants and not the added costs of so much else.

Consolidating the 500+ school districts into 62 county-wide school districts would neither increase or decrease the taxpayers role in decision-making ------ they would still be able to elect the school board and be able to vote on the budget and bond issues.   So YES -- my proposal would not only decrease the number of government entities (less government) .. it would reduce the costs associated with redundant district-level administrators and staff.

You STILL REFUSE to address the HUMONGOUS cost for all the buses, gas, wear and tear of buses, wear and tear of roads, bus maintenance, MANY more employees + lavish benefits (bus drivers, bus monitors, and mechanics), insurance, etc.

See dV, as you are  NOT and NEVER have been a taxpayer, you don't know what you are talking about.

Keep avoiding discussing the FACTS of just transporting the kids.   Yep, keep avoiding it because you have no clue
