The Rutherford Institute has come to the defense of a former Marine, 26-year-old Brandon
Raub, who was arrested, detained indefinitely in a psych ward and forced to undergo psychological
evaluations based solely on the controversial nature of lines from song lyrics, political messages and
virtual card games which he posted to his private Facebook page.

Do we know if this is true??? Did the police arrest this Marine "SOLELY" on his FB page postings???
DO the police have other information that led to his detainment??? I don't know... maybe.  Or maybe
all this is just speculation by a curious public.

In a hearing before a special justice on August 20, government officials again pointed to Raub’s Facebook posts as the sole reason for their concern and for his continued incarceration.

...and it's none of our business to know.  The state has no requirement to provide warrants for searching and seizing an Americans person or property.  It used to be that way, but apparently search warrants and criminal charges are not required any longer to detain a person against their will.

I would guess the Rutherford Institute would investigate to rule out speculation before releasing a public statement on the matter.

Initial reports of Raub’s detention assert that his detention was the result of a Virginia mental health
warrant, a civil procedure allowing for the preemptive incarceration of individuals deemed a threat to
public safety, despite the accused not being formally charged with a crime. Virginia law requires that
people subject to involuntary mental health treatment be guaranteed a legal hearing within 72 hours
of incarceration.

Raub was provided a hearing this morning at the John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell, Va. The
hearing ended about 2:00 pm local time. Brandon Raub did not accompany his family members as
they left the building. Members of the Raub family have decided not to publicly discuss the hearing,
on the advice of their attorney.

He is just confessing his sins to the state.  Blasphemy toward the state is one of the deadly sins too.  I hope he is forgiven.

Outcry after military veteran detained for anti-government Facebook postsPublished August 21, 2012
Associated Press

A former Marine involuntarily detained for psychiatric evaluation for posting strident anti-government messages on Facebook has received an outpouring of support from people who say authorities are trampling on his First Amendment rights.

Brandon J. Raub, 26, has been in custody since FBI, Secret Service agents and police in Virginia's Chesterfield County questioned him Thursday evening about what they said were ominous posts talking about a coming revolution. In one message earlier this month according to authorities, Raub wrote: "Sharpen my axe; I'm here to sever heads."

Police -- acting under a state law that allows emergency, temporary psychiatric commitments upon the recommendation of a mental health professional -- took Raub to the John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. He was not charged with any crime.

A Virginia-based civil liberties group, The Rutherford Institute, dispatched one of its attorneys to the hospital to represent Raub at a hearing Monday. A judge ordered Raub detained for another month, Rutherford executive director John Whitehead said.

"For government officials to not only arrest Brandon Raub for doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights but to actually force him to undergo psychological evaluations and detain him against his will goes against every constitutional principle this country was founded upon," Whitehead said.

Raub's mother, Cathleen Thomas, said by telephone that the government had overstepped its bounds.

"The bottom line is his freedom of speech has been violated," she said................................>>>>..........................>>>>.................................Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012.....stnews#ixzz24CNQhifJ

Expect more of this if the Ron Paul voters continue on their path of destruction so they can put their heads on their pillows at night.

Our principles, our freedoms, our very core is being eroded - one administration at a time.  Do you really want this to continue?  It's time to put a brake on the Democrats reign of power and try something DIFFERENT.  Is Romney that difference?  I don't know - but he's the ONLY ONE that will be on the voting machines other than Barack Hussein Obama who has a chance at winning the White House.

"As a Ron Paul supporter I can sleep well because..."

Why will they sleep so well?
They have a clear conscience since no matter how awful the next 4 years turn out to be, they can say...
"Hey, I didn't vote for him"...
Just like the people who didn't bother to vote at all!
