Yesterday, the folks at the Chicago Tribune had a similar chance.  Unfortunately, their article that appeared in yesterday’s edition also included only half of the story (i.e., that the Windy City closed 2008 with 509 homicides, an increase of about 15 percent over 2007).

So what you posted is that the CITY OF CHICAGO had more homicides than 36 COUNTRIES???

Do you really want me to post all the cities in the USA like Miami, Chicago, LA, NYC,and Phily. All I was saying is that the cities with the strictest gun control laws are the ones with the biggest gun problems.

So you want to outlaw firearms, why we are at it can we also ban freedom of speech and regulate freedom of religion

YUP! We agree.  It's about protecting it's citizens... and guaranteeing their FREEDOMS.  Freedom of
religion, of speech, of assembly... but no where does the US Constitution of a clump of cells,
any rights.

Just like ya can't put toothpaste back in it's tube.....you can't un-invent the gun!!! It is here to stay!! This country has some of the toughest laws in the world and yet violence in ALL forms are rising. Two issues.........

One.....this is just a side effect of a sick society with little or no moral plumb line. And ya can't legislate morals!! And clearly the tough laws aren't working to stop it!

Two....since guns are here to stay...start gun training in ALL schools at a young age. Teach them that guns are for 'defense'. Teach them the safety and how to respect guns! Parents teach your children!!!

In less than 3 generations, this country could be the best well armed and educated in the world!!!

I'm sure the government could create an entire committee to oversee it! It would be a sure money maker!!

Let's stop demonizing the gun! EDUCATE! EDUCATE! EDUCATE!!

Guns are an instrument, just like a crowbar, a knife or a bomb.

Americans need to arm themselves against these stray wacko nut jobs!!!
We have the constitutional right to arm and defend ourselves.......and so we should!!!!!!

And this is what happens when citizens... even a well trained police man... "Protects Himself".

Quoted Text
New York State Police are investigating after a local police officer admitted shooting and killing his own son, who he believed to be an intruder.

Village of Perry Officer Michael Leach, 59, was sleeping at around 12:50 a.m. on
Saturday morning when he was awakened by someone entering his Old Forge
hotel room. Thinking the person was an intruder, Leach fired one shot, killing his
37-year-old son Matthew
