.......found it on a friends Facebook page, her oldest son is currently a Marine.........

I have to say...If I had a child that chose to join and fight in nation building wars and "spreading democracy"(Even thought we are a constitutional republic), I guess I would have to find nobility in the cause in mental preparation for the possible loss of that child.  I do think the original cartoon is misguided in using the image of a disabled veteran to shame a child for not pledging allegiance. I imagine it is hard to find nobility in the cause after 10 years with no clear objective.  IMO, the cartoon was used to guilt the people that lost respect for the government because they have lost sight of the actual stated mission of these wars.

But I understand, everybody has to sleep at night, everybody needs a sense of peace, we are all human.

It shows that people cannot view something like this at face value, but must claim ulterior motive
and hidden messages and government cover ups....

Nah, two people with half a brain more than you that are capable of thinking on their own and refuse to be influenced by stupidity and constant conspiracy theories. You weren't even capable of viewing my doctored cartoon at face value, and after I even explained my thought behind what I did, youstill had to turn it into another hidden agenda.

Cicero's contempt for those who've served their country in the military is more obvious with every post.
Cic seems to blame the veterans for their wars, when (except for their vote) they have no control over
the reason or justification for the war.
The military's role is to protect this country... Civilians (like Cicero) have the power to change that
mission... yet Cic takes no responsibility for this country's wars, while blaming those who've fought in
them.

Cicero will deny that he blames the veterans of our wars but listen to his words:
~ "You on the other hand may have been one of the ones that saluted the general that gave the
command to raze and carpet-bomb villages filled with women and children."

(Cic blames the veterans but takes no responsibility for our wars... It's THE VETERANS FAULT, NOT MINE!)

This is your perception.  I have no contempt.  I just hold the soldiers carrying the guns and flying the drones just as responsible as the population that allows it.  You on the other hand give them a free pass under the guise of the "warrior".

The members of the Manson family that carried out the murders are just as guilty as Charles Manson that gave the orders.

Another irresponsible stupid idiotic analogy.

It gets worse with every post...

Now Cicero equates the US Armed Forces with Charles Manson.  Unlike Cicero, I think most Americans have
'contempt' for Manson, but none for the US Military or our veterans.

Really Cic... you have a distorted view of the role of a US Warrior.  YOU, the civilians, your congressman,
your senator, your president... all who you control with your vote have a say so in the conduct of the war.
You can freely protest and petition those in charge of the war... those in the US Military are limited by law,
from much of that protest.

I know that you have family members who served in the armed forces... you should ask their advice about
your opinions, and maybe they can enlighten your to the actual role of the military in time of war.

Yup, I support, contribute money and vote for the candidates that want to bring the troops home and only fight Constitutionally declared defensive wars.  I also will not join a military and kill on behalf of a leader that gives immoral and unconstitutional orders.

I also engage in conversations on this message board, have conversations at work, and conversations at dinner parties and voice by opinion about unconstitutional pre-emptive wars that are unnecessarily killing our soldiers whenever the topic comes up.  And believe me, the closer to 60 years old the person is I am talking to, the more likely they give the same response as you.  But, as they get younger, they are more open to the conversation and actually agree a lot of the time.

You can't change anything unless you have the public debate.  The national state media doesn't even make it a public debate, they are concerned about Mitt Romney's wife's horse or 'fast and furious' or 'same sex marriage', or women's contraceptive'.  But never do you hear any honest reporting about the troops in Afghanistan and how many have been wounded, killed, how many are committing suicide, breaking up families because of PTSD or other mental illness caused by combat stress.  These message board are the only places these debates occur.   I understand that during these debates, feelings get hurt.  So I hope you and jobxer don't take it so personal.  I know you have a military background and can offer a different perspective.

I may seem callous in my posts, but there is no time to sugar coat things when the country is where is it is.

I have been enlightened by the family members that are former Marines.  They repeat the slogans of the corps, they reminisce about the brotherhood, they describe in detail how the DI during basic training demoralized them and removed all sense of self and convinced them to sacrifice themselves for country and corps.  They talk about how they "turned them from boys into men".  It was pretty intense mental conditioning they were put through. They seem to hang onto the nostalgia of the time of service.  Not surprised they have the same knee jerk reaction to my comments as you.  It must be the programming.

As I said before, I understand it is a necessary process to remove a persons natural instinct of self preservation to get them to risk their lives for a greater cause then themselves.

The guy who thinks small government conservatism is regulating what people choose to put in their bodies.  Yeah, that's not big brother government or the nanny state.

Is it 10 o'clock already?  Sean Hannity must have just ended. Nice of you to join us, what neocon garbage did Hannity stuff into your brain tonight?  Who should we be bombing next?
