I don't like the new one. After all, the point was that it WASN'T OK, but that's how we treat kids now, and the reason that we have so many issues, because they can do what they want and don't take others into consideration, the entire point behind the original cartoon.
As for Alias' redo, the problem with the cartoon is with the public school teacher lying...Telling children that every troop deployment is in defense of the Bill of Rights. It has been two generations since being attacked by an invading army and a declaration of war was made.
I doctored the cartoon and asked Alias to post it for me.... and I am far from surprised at the comments since posting...there is no happy medium...fault no matter what! Maybe I mis-interpreted the teachers meaning of "rights of others" to have that choice. I thought it was other Americans she was implying. So you are saying "others" in other countries can have that right.
If that is the case, then that is a little more accurate. It raises another issue though...Where in the Constitution does it say the citizens of America need to spend blood and treasure to giver citizens of other countries rights? How is it decided deserves those rights?
But hey, at least it is a little more honest propaganda. If the teacher pulled out the Constitution and started a conversation about the Congress' responsibility to declare wars it would be ever MORE accurate.

I thought it was a great post for discussion! People that chose to read about the pledge of allegiance may have learned something new or caused some to pause and question about it's origin, ammendment to it, and purpose. I don't know why people want an echo chamber on this board.

Yeah I know I thought it was too. That's why I posted it...............found it on a friends Facebook page, her oldest son is currently a Marine..................I pretty much knew the responses it was gonna elicit........................aw crap!!
