6.6 Million Young Adults Are Insured Thanks To Obamacare

Even though much of the Affordable Care Act does not go into effect until 2014,  6.6 million young adults
now have health insurance, thanks to the plan.

According to a study by the Commonwealth Fund, 6.6 million young adults have signed up for coverage
through their parents’ health insurance plans. Under the ACA provision, young people can now stay on
their parents’ plans until the age of 26.

Last month, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Education Secretary Arne
Duncan wrote college presidents and student organizations urging them to remind students they can
stay on their parents’ plans after graduation.
“Now, graduating students are free to make career choices based on what they want to do, not
where they can get health insurance,”
they wrote.

A recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll also showed that about 71 percent of Americans view the
provision favorably.

Even TeaBagger Republican certified lunatic Rep. Allen West now supports this provision of Obama Care.

Although Rep. Allen West (R-FL) ran for Congress on a platform of completely scrapping Obamacare, he
praised a number of its key provisions.
West pointed to three popular provisions of the health care law that he would like to see preserved:
~allowing parents to keep children on their health insurance plans until 26,
~ ensuring that people with pre-existing conditions aren’t denied insurance,
~ and closing Medicare’s prescription drug donut hole.

Don't talk to me about the donut hole - my wife goes into that period around March 15th EVERY year ... that's several thousand dollars out of our pockets - prices significantly increased after Bush and the Dem congress created this bullshit program.  Eventually, by July or August, she goes into Catastrophic coverage period, but it still costs every month.

Closing the donut hole? Ya, I'm all for it - but it's not to Obama's credit, seniors have been calling for it for YEARS. If the prices of medication didn't nearly DOUBLE when medicare started offering Part D (and it becoming mandatory), everyone would be a LOT better off.  Doesn't mean that I support obamacare - or as you call him, the "lunatic".

Now that you've had your little rant... My original post was about Obama care and keeping young Americans
insured...
The Republican Lunatic Alan West is responsible for his own comments... they are his words, not mine.

I know of TWO 2o-somethings (siblings)who are able to be on mommy and daddy's plan. Guess where they work and what they do?

One works in Hollywood for a TV network doing a weekly show, and the other works in Hollywood doing CGI for a well known production company. To give you a hint, he says his work is the stuff of dreams.

Too bad Hollywood liberals won't put their money where their mouth is and INSURE their young workers!!!! Mom and Dad back here in NY have to claim they live at home with them so their employers take care of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF!!!!!!!!!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

what is the definition of 'young'?

now they get to decide?

most young could give a rats a$$ about insurance....they avoid the doctor like the plague.....why? BECAUSE YOUNG 99% OF THE TIME MEANS NOT F''EN SICK.....only when we get older do we call it 'sick' when in fact it's normal aging hence 'palliative care'.....

we have lost the definition of sick....

what do we want from healthcare? labels for drugs because, I gotta tell ya, that's what the bottom line is.....BE WARY OF THE DIAGNOSIS YOU RECEIVE FOR THE MEDS YOU DESIRE....IT LIVES WITH YOU LIKE HERPES......diagnosis are like 'tags'....you become a stat....

what does everyone think about being 'tagged' for national healthcare, by some 'experts' who tell us they know? if that's the commune you want then by all means accept that ADD/ADHD diagnosis as if you own it.....just because the system is slower than you(antiquated teachers/methods) doesn't
mean you are crazy ADD/ADHD ......

be wary of what they are trying to 'fix' in young folks.....and unfortunately there is really nothing to 'fix' as we age....they're all bandaides...

REMEMBER TO SLIDE INTO HOME BASE WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT AT FULL SPEED AND ALL THE ROAD RASH....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

ONLY BECAUSE SOMEONE INSTILLED THAT FEAR IN THEM....why do we think we evolve so slow....

as american diets improved so did the human growth....we outgrew and outsmarted our antiquated teachers/system then get labeled ADD/ADHD.....

UnitedHealthcare Will Preserve Key Obamacare Provisions, Regardless Of Supreme Court Ruling

UnitedHealthcare — one of the nation’s largest health insurers — has announced that it will preserve a provision
of the health care law that allows young adults to stay on their family health care plans up to age 26, even if
the high court rules the law unconstitutional later this month.
The measure is one of several so-called “Patients’ Bill of Rights” included in the law that UnitedHealthcare will
keep in place. The company will also continue offering preventive health care services without out-of-pocket
costs and end lifetime limits on insurance payouts.

And that would be their business decision, and what we're for them actually being able to do.  It's the fact that someone is TOLD they HAVE to submit to the regulations and do what is ordered.  What they're practicing here is FREE MARKET ECONOMICS, you might want to look it up some time.

OHHHHH FREE MARKET ECONOMICS!

Where Oil companies... the most profitable corporations in the world get taxpayer dollars..
but
where US citizens who pay these taxes, are left with out any health care insurance.

A truly great Conservative system.  How commendable.

That's not the system I want...Take the subsidies away from the oil companies too.

Difference is Box, I am not FORCED to buy oil, but Obama wants to FORCE ME to buy health insurance.

Government Force, a truly great totalitarian system.
