ROTTERDAM — School officials are saying that rumors of students being stabbed at Schalmont Middle School are false. Principal Michael Kondratowicz sent a letter home to parents May 25 saying that there was an incident last month in which a student brought a pocket knife to school. The school confiscated the weapon and the student was suspended. “No one was hurt, which of course does not minimize the seriousness of this incident,” Kondratowicz wrote. He said there is no indication that students are routinely bringing weapons to school. District spokeswoman Audrey Hendricks also said there is no truth to the rumors that have been circulating. Rotterdam police also reported no such incidents.

I know someone who told me this statement, itself, is false, and that the stabbing was true.
