Meters are the way to go. No flat fees. That's unfair to less occupied homes and/or those that try to conserve water. Paying for how much you use is fair way to go. It would end the idiots washing their driveways with the hose instead of sweeping the leaves/propellers from trees that end up in the driveway. We have a Dutch heritage,but honestly, wasting water like that is just being dumb.

Oh yes....let's not use water to keep up properties like washing down driveways! But it's ok to have a chemical plant that threatens the aquifer. And it's ok to place a mall and apt complexes over the aquifer. And it's ok to run miles of petroleum based streets over the aquifer with cars that leak oil and gasoline. Not to mention the salting of the roads in the winter!!!

If your so worried about people in the town wasting water have the police start enforcing the water regulations that will save water and even make the town some money in fines.

Unfortunately that won't work....most of the law enforcement employees live in the neighborhoods that violate the watering restrictions!
Indeed -- it may WELL be time to increase certain user fees in order to replenish the reserves in some of the districts which, in the future will need to attract and hire talented individuals to operate the very advanced and complex water and sewer systems that the Town will inevitably be aspiring to. Various Federal and State mandates make it such that the Town will in the near future -- need to upgrade many of its antiquated systems which the previous two administrations FAILED to protect and maintain.
Sadly the previous Supervisor and his cronies were incompetent and let some of the systems fall into grave disrepair.. We have better people looking to take over in that area and residents should see the fruits of Supervisor Buffardi's excellent vision and skill in resolving these matters. Although I am NOT for raising fees for the sake of raising fees -- However, personnel and training needs in the various departments (including the wonderful Police Department) and the increased need for Public Safety personnel and First Responders may make it all but inevitable that we find new revenue streams WITHOUT having to raise taxes.

Couple that with the newly approved apartments that are going to be developed at the rotterdam 'triangle'....yes?? MFHousing has been developed in leaps and bounds in rotterdam.......yes? Rotterdam is looking to have apts in the old draper school....yes?? And how 'bout the old grand union that they are trying to develop into 'something'.....yes?? Just when is all of the water going to be gone????

We dont know... the dems removed the town engineer position under a dem supervisor and appointed the dem party head in the engineers place - if my memory is correct - isn't the same guy currently contracted to help the current supervisor manage $$$$ - how is that going???? Hopefully supervisor Buffardi is done with that BS
