Rhode Island Considers 'Homeless Bill Of Rights' To End Discrimination

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Eddie Vega has been homeless for a year. He was waiting for a bus one day last week when a police officer rolled up to ask what he was doing and where he was headed. Vega said it's the kind of subtle harassment that happens all the time.

"I get the looks," said the 31-year-old Providence man, squinting because he recently lost his glasses in a fight that also left him with stiches on his forehead. "It's the same hassle everywhere. Happens every day. There's nothing you can do. You speak up and you get in trouble."

Vega had just finished a bologna sandwich at a weekly soup kitchen set up in the Rhode Island Statehouse, where lawmakers are now considering first-of-its kind legislation that would create a "Homeless Bill of Rights" intended to give people like Vega greater protection from discrimination...........................>>>>............................>>>>........................http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/14/rhode-island-homeless-bill_n_1515372.html

can you be homeless and have a job?

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Of course you can be homeless and have a job!
I know... That doesn't fit into the Conservative meme.  There are working Americans who are homeless and
have to choose between food and shelter for much of the Year.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Tell them to move to Schenectady.  Homelessness is a result of mental illness and drug addiction in the majority of the cases.  Many cases are vets that were screwed up by the illegal wars.

my open question was how does one "fit in" to the paycheck system/taxes etc etc....

I'm all for trade/barter....the problem is that 1%er liberals don't think the homeless arecomfortable in their current condition because those poor homeless aren't in
THEIR system with a flat screen tv, cell phone, hilfiger handme downs etc....

THEN TAKE THEM HOME WITH YOU AND PUT THEM UP IN YOUR CARRIAGE HOUSE AND HAVE YOUR LAWN MAINTENENCE HOUSE CLEANING CREW AND YOUR PSEUDO
GREENIE WEENIE ARTSY FARSTSY FRIENDS HAVE AT IT....

I'm often amused when Conservatives find that the reality doesn't match the Right Wing Mantra.

oh, don't be amused....the reality is that THERE WILL ALWAYS be homeless folks....sad but true....It could even be me....I'm not saying I
like it.....but a bill of rights makes them 'more equal'......really? because some folks feel bad that the homeless condition(alot of times by choice)
isn't palatable to them and their suburban/urbane life styles that they worked for...

sometimes I'm not sure if folks feel bad because they are just so Jesus-grateful for what they have that they want to give other's people
money away....

I get that it's not just about the money, but don't make some folks more equal than another because one has a 'guilt' complex about their
achievements(mostly honestly obtained)....then go help....

homeless bill of rights:

1. piece of property
2. seedlings
3. tool shed full of tools
4. lean-too

pretty soon we'll all be looking for the freedom outside the regular paychex system...homeless? different work......different earnings...
different styled....INDIVIDUAL

where is Buffet to save everyone from their lives as pond scum.....he hasn't been to my home yet.....and according to him my home is
technically "homeless"....it would never suit him....

I have nothing but a giant middle finger for this.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
