If they taped his conversation (OMG How sleezy is that?) then it appears that he was 'informed' to leave!
However.....there should be a full investigation on who knew what and when, since the article said that this went back 7 years. Who was turning a blind eye? hmmmmmmmmmm

The term "bedroom community" seems applicable here, didn't think so many in town government we're taking it literally .....................btw I didn't realize Greisemer was once the Dem Committee head................so ronnie you want to weigh in on this one?...........................maybe they should put a red light on Town Hall with arrows pointing the way to the clerks office since I understand there may have been something going on between those two.............I love living in the town I grew up in, just not real fond of the characters in charge.................maybe a whole series of video's is in order...............I'll call it "In the Gutter" a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of Rotterdam government....................heard that Rotterdam in the Netherlands wants their name back...............

How many other working together idiots knew for years about this and looked the other way? Follow the money. Rotterdam is ready to replace Schenectady as the biggest cesspool in Upstate NY.

ROTTERDAM
Public works head quits amid sexual harassment probe

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.

Longtime town Public Works Coordinator Michael Griesemer resigned Friday amid a town investigation into a claim that he sexually harassed a subordinate and then intimidated her into keeping quiet about the abuse.
Griesemer was the subject of a notice of claim filed against the town in February by former DPW clerk Vicky Carrieri, who accused him of repeated and egregious acts of sexual harassment and intimidation over a seven-year period. Town Supervisor Harry Buffardi said Griesemer submitted a succinct letter of resignation, effectively quitting his post at 9 a.m. Friday, but declined to say whether the town’s first and only DPW coordinator was pressured into leaving.
He did say that “I wasn’t surprised” by Griesemer’s resignation.
A copy of Carrieri’s seven-page notice of claim obtained by the Gazette gives broad details about Griesemer’s “unwanted sexual advances” toward her, allegedly starting shortly after she began working with the town in 2005 and continuing until she was transferred out of the DPW office in January. Among her claims, she said, Griesemer subjected her to pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation, acts of physical violence, retaliation and defamation during her employment with the town.
“Mr. Griesemer, acting within the scope of employment with DPW, engaged in an extreme and outrageous course of conduct, well outside the bounds of human decency, which intentionally caused [Carrieri] to endure severe emotional distress,” the claim states. “Mr. Griesemer repeatedly made unwanted sexual advances towards Claimant, demanded and/or coerced [Carrieri] into performing sexual acts on him, made sexually explicit, inappropriate gestures and statements directed at [Carrieri], and exposed himself to [Carrieri] throughout the course of her employment.”
Carrieri also accuses Griesemer of engaging in retaliatory conduct against her when his advances were rebuked or she refused to perform sex acts on him. She claims Griesemer would grab parts of her body, block her passage and threaten to either throw or spill things on her when she declined his advances.
“Mr. Griesemer also treated [Carrieri] unfairly in the terms and conditions of her employment, applying harsher rules to [Carrieri] than were applied to other employees under his supervision with respect to time off, breaks, and time records,” the claim states.
Calls to Griesemer’s home and cellphone were not returned Friday. His attorney, Chris Massaroni, indicated he wouldn’t comment beyond a statement he issued last week denying any wrongdoing on the part of his client.
“Please be advised that Mike Griesemer vehemently denies that he engaged in any wrongdoing,” he said in an email sent April 13.
Joseph Dougherty, Carrieri’s attorney, disagreed. Though declining to discuss the notice of claim — a precursor to a lawsuit against a municipality — he said Friday his client stands by her allegations.
Sources said the notice of claim was filed about a month after an altercation at Town Hall between Carrieri and another employee. She subsequently was transferred to the Rotterdam Senior Center.
In mid-March, after the notice of claim was filed, the Town Board authorized Buffardi to negotiate an agreement with Glenville-based Public Sector HR Consultants for services. They agreed to pay the company up to $150 per hour.
Buffardi acknowledged the town is conducting an “vigorous investigation” into an allegation of sexual harassment but declined to name the employees involved. He said he became aware of the allegation before taking office in January and launched the probe soon after.
In a letter last week, Town Clerk Diane Marco agreed to produce the notice of claim following a Freedom of Information Law request by The Daily Gazette on April 9. A letter from the town indicates the document would be made available “within 20 business days.”
Town Attorney Kate McGuirl later refused to produce a copy of the notice of claim and said Marco had “sealed the document” in her office since early March. She continued to refuse access to the document despite the state’s Committee on Open Government advising that the town had no legal basis to withhold the information after it was disclosed to another newspaper last week.
“If a record is disclosed to one news media organization, in my opinion it should be disclosed to any news media or for that matter any person requesting it,” opined Robert Freeman, the committee’s executive director. “Disclosure to the news media in a sense is disclosure to the world.”
Griesemer worked for the town for more than a decade and formerly led the town’s Democratic Committee. Former town Supervisor John Paolino appointed Griesemer to the vacant highway superintendent’s position in 2002.
But after serving a year at the post, Griesemer lost his bid for re-election to Republican James Longo. Just two days before relinquishing control of the Highway Department, Griesemer ran unopposed to become chairman of the Democratic Committee.
Griesemer led the party for about a year, at which point Paolino brought him back into the fold at Town Hall. The supervisor spearheaded a reorganization of the Public Works Department that led to the dismissal of the town engineer and creation of the coordinator’s position. .......................>>>>........................>>>>...........http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01700&AppName=1

seems that Griesemer is the sacrificial lamb to the supervisor and boys club a nice badge of 'protection'.....getting out of the shadow of some predecessors and their
boys club mentality....they will get miles on this
