The GOP platform’s assault on women is particularly contemptible, and to say Republicans are anti-choice is an understatement, and not just for the personhood amendment Americans have rejected time and time again. The language Republicans used to allegedly “affirm the dignity of women by protecting the sanctity of human life” includes a canard to cover their bible-based prohibitions on abortion. According to Republicans, “numerous studies have shown that abortion endangers the health and well-being of women, and we stand firmly against it,” even in the case of rape, incest, or the health of the mother according to the personhood amendment aspect of the plank. The Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security reforms Republicans are promoting will affect women who make up 70% of Medicaid beneficiaries that if enacted will drop 14-27 million people from its rolls by 2021, and raising the retirement age for Social Security will mean 20-million more elderly Americans will be in poverty and remove the only source of income for one-third of women over 65.

Victims of Rape, get life in jail for an abortion... "The GOP War On Women" continues. North Dakota Senate candidate Rep. Rick Berg, voted on a bill in 2007 that would make a woman who has an abortion in North Dakota guilty of homicide, even in cases of rape or incest, and sent to prison for life without the possibility of parole.
A new section to chapter 12.1-16 of the North Dakota Century Code is created and enacted as follows:

Intentional termination of human life – Preborn children. A person is guilty of a class AA felony if the person intentionally destroys or terminates the life of a preborn child. A person that knowingly administers to, prescribes for, procures for, or sells to any pregnant individual any medicine, drug, device, or other substance with the specific intent of causing or abetting the termination of a preborn child is guilty of a class AA felony. A person that intentionally or knowingly aids, abets, facilitates, solicits, or incites a person to intentionally destroy or terminate the life of a preborn child is guilt of a class C felony. For purposes of this section, “preborn child” includes a human being from the moment of fertilization until the moment of birth.

one county in Tennessee provides a case study for what happens when conservative politicians successfully defund Planned Parenthood clinics. After officials in Shelby County, TN stripped funding for Planned Parenthood and awarded it to a conservative religious clinic instead, the services provided to local women dropped by a staggering 93 percent.
Local officials decided that instead of giving that Title X money to Planned Parenthood for health screenings, STD tests, and birth control, they’d instead give it to Christ Community Health Services, a religious organization that refuses to provide abortions or refer women to others who would provide them. Christ Community Health Services was averaging just 51 Title X visits per month in early 2012, compared to Planned Parenthood’s 841 visits in August 2011.
