Let all voters participate in presidential primaries

    The primary season is only four states old and the field has been whittled down to four choices. Less than 20 percent of the delegates have been chosen and the results are becoming preordained. Where are the choices? Where are the leaders? Where has true representation gone?
    The New York primary is April 24; the results will be insignificant when it is held. The travesty of New York’s primary is nearly 40 percent of eligible voters can’t participate. Some would term this disgraceful, others discriminatory, and still others collusion. How can there be true representation of the people with a minute number of candidates and the voice of nearly half the people silent? It’s no wonder things keep getting worse in Washington. The American people have lost faith in the election process and their government.
    But change is in the air. There is a way for all registered voters to participate in the presidential nomination process. As we speak, Americans Elect is knocking down the barriers to ballot access across the country. Presently, we are on the ballot in 15 states and pending certifi cation in 15 more. The process in New York can’t start until after our online convention in June, when we will nominate our own presidential candidate. Those are New York’s election laws. But all are encouraged to participate in our nomination process.
    Americans Elect does not discriminate against or disqualify any registered voter. We don’t even ask you to change your party affiliation, because we are not a party. We are a process that has been recognized by the National Election Committee. All are welcome. To participate, go to our website, www.americanselect. org, — 2.4 million members nationwide can’t be wrong.

If everyone could vote in a primary, it would open the system to an opposing party determining the candidate in order to
nominate the weakest opponent.

An example, in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans by a large margin, the Republicans might have three candidates.
Two serious Republicans running on the party's general platform, the third candidate, a "Fringe (Ron Paul) type candidate
that doesn't represent the party but instead is much closer to a Democrat.
Democrats could dominate the voting in the Republican primary by their sheer numbers and force the 'fringe candidate' to be
nominated.

Jesse Ventura had a good idea and that is to eliminate parties all together, remove the D or R next to the name and make people work to understand the persons positions. I'm a big supporter of open states because many people do switch opinions and many times the deadline to switch party affiliations have long passed making them not eligible to vote in the primaries.

I am in favor of having a National Primary Day or 5 or 6 Regional Primary Days or the "Ohio Plan" with 3 primary days based on state size)  to choose the party candidates for President.  

Only registered members of a political party should be allowed to vote in the party's primary.  I don't want nayboobs having any opportunity to determine my party's candidate(s) for office.

participants to sign a legal declaration under the penalty of perjury that they couldn't attend earlier
caucuses because of their religious beliefs.

And then on Saturday, one Maine county (Washington County) postponed its caucus -- due to snow
-- until Feb. 18, which allowed the Paul campaign to cry foul and make the case it could have won if
there hadn't been a postponement."

Agreed -- something is screwy with the way the Republicans are running their caucuses.

All politicians play the game....better than run the government...

So far as I am concerned, Obama will win again....none of the Reps have a qualified and

honest candidate.....seems like they are flip flopping to get votes and stand out....

money talks...BS walks....and they all need to have hip boots on....

PS.....I did not vote for OBAMA and will not again  this time around....
