I'm glad to hear box has no problem with an activist using Jesus and Christianity to advance a civil rights agenda. He will have no problem when civil rights are given back to the unborn through Christian advocacy. Im glad to see box opening up to government recognition of Christian advocacy. Dr. Kings speeches were laced with reference to Jesus and God.
Once again Cicero reads, but the words don't enter his brain... Sad really Cic can read the alphabet and walk as if it quoted some off the wall Right Wing Nut Philosophy.
MLK Didn't advocate civil rights for Christians... or for those who believed in God, but for all Americans... Regardless of their religious beliefs or lack there of. His message of Civil rights was often in agreement with his religion, but independent of it.

Genius??? Your federal right to freedom of (or from) religions supersedes any state regulation that some Bible Belt Religious Wacko decides to propose.
states are always sovereign(except for recent history)
New York State and the State of Massachusetts deciding that marriage should be between any two people has nothing to do with any one's right of religion. Marriage is not a religious right granted by the Church, but a civil right granted from the US Constitution. Many states had laws outlawing marriage IN THE CHURCH, between mixed races. A Church can make up any silly regulation they see fit for their Religion, but the First Amendment to the US Constitution declares that US Citizens are not held to any Church laws.
marriage has always been EITHER via the government OR the church. people forget they DON'T HAVE TO MARRY IN A CHURCH. AND they dont have to stay in the state they dont like. I dont even care if you marry a frog. PP has classes on this.
when we ask for the FEDS to 'fix it' we make mud........
marriage has personal choice as does abortion......
the feds can continue making war/tariffs/trade agreements/trade sanctions and pretend to make affect.....

Nice spin box...There is a federal monument of a southern Baptist reverend. His advocacy was not secular. His message of civil rights was not only in agreement but derived from his religious beliefs. Religion in the public square is ok to a liberal as long as that religious figure is accepted by a majority of the Democrat party constituency.
It is a private business....yes? So Kentucky is giving this private business lucrative taxbreaks just like the METROPLEX does...yes? Don't make this a religious issue......cause if it's a private business....it ain't religious! It's not a non-profit is it? Would it be any different if Six Flags or Disney wanted to build there?
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with what Kentucky does. Actually, I could give a crap less! I'm just saying it is a 'private business'!!
What if it was a Muslim theme park owned by and operated as a private business?
just sayin'

Cic .loves to 'double down' when he's wrong!
Nice Spin??? Suppose instead, MLK was a Muslim, or a Mason, or a Union Leader... and used his connections in his Mosque/Lodge/Union Hall to promote CIVIL RIGHTS LEGISLATION. Would that legislation be Religious or Mason, or Union legislation because he organized the movement with those leaders???
Take Cic's premise: There is a federal monument of a southern Baptist reverend. Or as most people see it... There is a federal monument of a Civil Rights Leader who is also a Baptist reverend.

EVERYTHING comes from some 'belief'.....being athiest IS a belief and it IS a religious belief.....anything that we look to to guidence could be construed as religion.....but the government should NOT be upholding one religion over another... and once they break the seal of separation ALL religions become fodder for the podiums.......
Roman Catholic Church is such named BECAUSE of politics.....then it doesn't stop there.....it becomes a stupid fight between protestant/catholic.....and the government elected officials like us in our little corners 'fighting' over sh!t we have no business fighting over.....it prevents us from paying attention to the elected and their 'choices for us'........
creationism is a theory evolution is a theory big bang is a theory etc etc.......
but building monuments to ourselves for so called posterity is what we do best......
history is a lesson for the future is what is said....but as each generation passes it becomes a novelty and watered down.......9/11 will become the same as MLK and the Enola Gay etc etc.....the ripple effect becomes less and less....

Box, you are too funny. MLK was educated at Crozer heological Seminary. He has a batchelor of divinity. I can't wait for the Billy Graham and Pat Robertson monuments. Ya know, Graham was very outspoken during the cold war againstcommunism. So was Pope John Paul for that matter.
Some church and state is ok for the liberal. If MLK was preaching civil rights for the unborn in the name of Jesus, there would be a bunch of wacky liberals protesting separation of church and state. You see how their panties get in a bunch when some parents question Planned Parenthood in public schools. They are instantly labelled right wing Christian zealots.
I thought a cross was a religious symbol, I never heard of an ark being a religious symbol when used for an amusement park. It's not as if it was the Ark of the Covenant.

Almost every American has heard of MLK... and almost Every American remembers MLK for his (choose one) 1. Sermons? 2. Baptisms? 3. Spirituals? 4. Civil Rights accomplishments?
Cicero thinks that they built a national memorial for MLK because of 1,2,& 3... and possibly a little bit for #4.
The rest of America thinks the answer is 4.... Even though MLK also was very good at 1, 2 & 3... they weren't the reason for his recognition and monument.

IT'S A PRIVATE BUSINESS!!!!! IT'S NOT A RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION!!!!
wouldja all be happy if this private company incorporated a water slide park inside of a look-a-like mosque right next to the arc?
The point here is that they are sacrificing 'necessities' for a tourist attraction!!! PERIOD!!! What if it was Six Flags? Do you all think this would be beneficial to the Kentuckians????

Actually, I have read a number of the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King's sermons -- it is something that I recommend that more people do. Reverend King did what he did because of his deep faith in the Gospel message of Jesus Christ .. not because of liberal or a conservative political agenda.
The Reverend Doctor King was not like some of the Roman Catholic politicians of the past 40 years who believed one thing privately but publicly held another belief. That is why this profoundly good Baptist minister chose to PUBLICLY take a stand and crusade for Civil Rights. It is too bad that many of our politicians are Catholic or some other denomination of Christian only in private or in church ---- they need to "grow a pair" and have the courage of their convictions* BOTH in church and in the public arena.
* that is assuming that they actually have any convictions

HAHAHAHA!!! He was very good a 1,2 & 3...Hahahahahaha...
He was an Evangelical Christian, a Baptist Minister that used his Christian rhetorical preaching style to motivate Americans to action, into pressuring their congressmen/women to pass legislation.
If the unborn could vote Democrat, you would have every liberal pandering to Christian preachers to try to take credit for passing legislation ending the violent persecution of the unborn.
