Well, how did you vote, Ira?

The Town Clerk took minutes of the meeting and there has ALWAYS been a lag between the meeting date and when the minutes appear online.

The only BS around here is the BS complaints -- because the new Town Board and the new Town Clerk are doing EVERYTHING by the book and -- IMHO -- doing it quite well.

My understanding is that during the Tommasone and Del Gallo administrations the Town Clerk's office was not allowed to post minutes of meetings on the town's website.

Current minutes  (since it is only the 13th day of January) would have to be approved by the body BEFORE they could be posted ----- so don't expect that a meeting will happen one day and the minutes will pop up online a couple days later.

You should be able to fill out a Freedom of Information Request for past and current minutes.

FIR is a little extreme for something that is to be public.  Thought the minutes from 1JAN would be on the town site under AGENDA/MINUTES by now...am I correct that they wil be posted there when available?

Minutes must be kept as a part of public record on file in the Town Clerks office --- there is no legal requirement that the minutes be posted online ... it certainly is more convenient and something that I think should be available online  but -- there is no legal requirement for them to be posted online.

Generally speaking, minutes are not official until approved by the body (in this case the Town Board) ... and that is normally done at the next meeting or some future date.

Then there is also the question of what type of minutes are being kept   -- verbatim, summary, written, video .. etc     Some boards of the town keep both verbatim and summary minutes.  Others are only required to keep summary minutes.   To the best of my knowledge ALL of these types of minutes are being stored in the Town Clerk's Office and are available to public upon request.

Your best bet is to contact Town Hall yourself and ask if/when they will be available online.

To Foil minutes and have to pay for them is not logical.....the "body" to approves after a month or more is not in the public's  best

interest....I would think that if this REGIME is as efficient as is proclaimed to be, then the minutes would be a priority....

and maybe a suggestion would be to RECORD on TAPE and then transcribe them.....

Lasst couple of years all the critics posted everything , even as it happened, on this blog of the TB meetings and then

criticized for whatever reason.....It would be beneficial to all of the residents to know what the meetings are producing and

how effective the REGIME is.....after all, there is little hope that the residents will get a fair shake if they want to speak....

The professionalism would show and also the transparency....after all, the secret meetings are still going on, no matter

what is published here....

BTW   the AGENDA is not BS to a lot of the residents.....THat is the wrong statement...  s/b PREPLANNED AGENDA    lol

One day you folks complain that Roberts Rules are being ignored and then the next you display your ignorance by claiming that minutes should be made available without being approved -- which is in direct violation of Robert's Rules.

Regardless of  YOUR OPINION -- the minutes of ALL Town Board and the various commissions and boards ARE AVAILABLE to the public in some form.  This has ALWAYS been the case.  They have ALWAYS been on file in the Town Clerk's Office.   So if you are interested in seeing the minutes, you have to go to the Town Clerk's Office.  And that is wholly within standards established by Robert's Rules and state law.

the internet IS the new file/cloud/server or what ever you want to call it......the future is here......go over the minutes get a highschool kid to do it for credit and there ya go......

If that is your proposal - then I suggest that you go to the next Town Board meeting and make the suggestion during the public comment privilege of the floor.

Granted -- you would still have to wait for the minutes to be approved at the next meeting of the full board or commission BEFORE it could be posted online or anywhere else.
