And I think that we can all agree that there is a history that a government program like THE METROPLEX leads to favors and corruption. Not to forget that it is then in the driver's seat to 'select' who will be survive and who won't.....who will receive the tax breaks and who won't.

Many...if not ALL of the METROPLEX/GILLEN businesses are either 100% tax exempt....have low to 0% interest......and/or have had loans 'forgiven' while 60% of it's residents are on welfare!!!

All of this while ROME BURNS!!!

I understand your position and heartburn over all this, really. But stop and look at it from the Businessman's standpoint...they would have to be totally stupid not to take advantage of incentives that are given to them, if those incentives do not require they locate somewhere that their businesses would suffer.  If it were me, I would take the incentives....sorry.  And don't forget, if I don't take those incentives, the PLEX will just put those fuinds somewhere else.  It's money that is already there and will be used, regardless of the impact on the tax base....the funds are there.  BUT...do I agree with the PLEX at all????    NO, their charter and performance are totally contradictory and it is ill managed and top dog is over compensated.  He would have been canned ages ago in private industry for mismangement.  Wish STATE would do honest audit....might find some very interesting little tidbits...........hey, State AG...u listening!!!!

A renaissance indicates improvement.   Provide us the proof of Schenectady improving.    Show us the proof that property values are increasing.   Show us the proof that taxes are going down.   show us the proof that the TAXABLE tax base is increasing.   Show us that proof that houses in the city are selling easy.   Show us the PROOF that people are moving into the city -- I, however, who DOES tell the truth AND I PROVIDE PROOF - for example, those highest level DOT employees have NOT CHOSEN to buy homes and live in the city AND I PROVIDE THE PROOF by listing their names AND the community in which they live.   DV, I trust you DO know that we have the ability to list, on these boards, the names of each and every one of those few hundred employees that work on State St AND any one of us can list the community in which they own their homes.   Would take a little time, but the information, by law IS public info.   That would show that these people working downtown are NOT MOVING INTO the city, whether they work here or not.

BT...are you saying that DVOR claims wonderful success by PLEX but when challenged to provide substantiation of his coments he can't/doesn't...OMG...tell me it ain't so...DVOR making claims that he cannot back up becuase he can't find the answers on GOOGLE????? DV, what happened to the person on here that was smoking his/her bananas???????    Remember, did the copy/paste act from what a lowly Gazette newspaper worker wrote -- the gazette newspaper worker stated that house values in Schenectady were up and were $185,000 +/- and that was supposedly from GCAR.

But what happened, DV?????????    What happened when I challenged Smoking Bananas to provide the proof DIRECT from GCAR??????    Huh DV?????    What happened?????    


Smoking could NOT provide proof DIRECT from GCAR itself, and TO THIS DAY, several months later, Smoking bananas STILL has not provided ANY NUMBERS DIRECT from GCAR itself that supported what the Gazette newspaper worker wrote.

For those interested tune into the Ann Parillo show next TUES, FEB.28th, on Open Stage Media Public Access TV.   On her closing segment from the show on the 21st she mentioned Randy Loren will be singing on the 28th show.   Maybe he will discuss his future plans for his restaurant.

Well, the last posts on their Facebook page says they're opening March 13th (Tomorrow) -  but so far, no confirmation, address or other news.

Anyone know what's going on?  Did he fall short and cancel his plans?
