You know I said the same thing about a year ago - I struggled to think of businesses that had opened without handouts.

I came up with two on my own...  Dolche and The Point diner on central State.

Today - they are both closed.  And I regret both of them closing.

Isn't that a common theme? No businesses, enticed by Metro freebies, have moved into Schdy Cty and been successful....at least I cannot think of any, and obviously DVOR once again is mute because he can't support his statement!

The Point Cafe is still open at its Guilderland Ave location --- the other location was not a good one and I believe the management was premature in trying to expand to 2 locations.

Losers support losers.....whether you think so or not.....when a business fails it is because

of poor management or the public doesn't get what they paid for.....begging is no way to

And raising taxes on the financially struggling homeonwers and exempting the businesses from paying their taxes, right?

Just to add some clarity...move by Marcella was driven more by the "issues" of old location and problems encountered and the lack of attention to correct the problems. Theft and damage, etc., was growing and constant...a move was only choice, and not what he really wanted.  Personally, I think that keeping him in Schdy was a good move.  Yes, taxpayer money was invloved....as it was for several others, like Villa Itlaia and others.  Remember, these are business people....you give them financial motiviations and they would be poor business people NOT to take advantage of it. If it makes good business sense, you do it....if it doesn't then you don't.

In all do respect..you too seem to pick your winners and losers and who should benefit by taxpayer dollars and who shouldn't. THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS................Marcella's could have well afforded to set up business without taxpayer support. He saw a 'cash cow' and took the bait. They were ready to move OUT of schenectady county 'at their own expense' until METROPLEX/GILLEN gave them a 'taxpayer offer' they couldn't and wouldn't refuse.

So with this said........... can we assume that you are in favor of ALL of the METROPLEX/GILLEN lucrative deals/tax exemptions? Or only ones you know personally? When all the while, the taxpayers are buried under a blanket of taxes?

Guess it's ok IF you personally  know who the recipients are?

Sorry....no insult intended and sorry you perceived it that way.  But it is all too common for folks to be against 'something'....... 'anything' until it is benefiting those they know. just sayin'

Just sayin'...haven't talked with Johnny since year before he moved....do not know the Villa Italia family other than by name.
Business 101....if I owned a business and was going to move to another lcoation for whatever reasons and someone trough me a bone to stay in the county.....NO BRAINER!  I stay and take the incentive. Just good business sense.  Think we are blaming businesses for being successful instead of blaming the plex for being stupid.  Stil lwaiting for DVOR to tell me what successful businesses plex has brought INTO Schdy Cty....!!!!

Being 'pro business' is one thing! Supporting businesses with taxpayer's money when the businesses can well afford it themselves........doesn't make any sense.
ESPECIALLY....when the municipality is killing off the home owners with high taxation.

And I think that we can all agree that there is a history that a government program like THE METROPLEX leads to favors and corruption. Not to forget that it is then in the driver's seat to 'select' who will be survive and who won't.....who will receive the tax breaks and who won't.

Many...if not ALL of the METROPLEX/GILLEN businesses are either 100% tax exempt....have low to 0% interest......and/or have had loans 'forgiven' while 60% of it's residents are on welfare!!!

All of this while ROME BURNS!!!

Isn't that what "favors" are for......??

Rotterdam is full of them.....and that's why the REGIME is NOT transparent...
