Noticed that Dolce Vita on State St in Woodlawn has closed. Their website & Facebook page indicates that they "lost their lease" and are re-opening soon at a new location. It's interesting that they haven't divulged the new location. This was one of the area's finest Italian restaurants according to DVOR. |

It was all the doggie bags he went home with - left them unable to pay their rent |

Goes to show you how valuable a food critic endorsement by DVOR REALLY IS!!!! You can rely on his food critic endorsements as much as the rest of his factual claims |

No surprise. It was so busy no one went there anymore? Hopefully that other DVR haunt Petta's will also have a similar remodeling closure. Go to Brandon's now open at the old El Divino's on Chrysler Avenue. Best food in town. |

I have to say the one time I went to Dolce Vida, my wife and I loved it. I thought they did as much with the inside as they could. The location was not ideal however. They lost their lease? My guess is more like the landlord jacked the rent so high they figured they could get a better deal somewhere else. Something tells me businesses are not lining up to set up shop at that location. |

I think 55tbird is right. The assessed value of this property is over $400,000. Petta's is only $275,000. Areas arent the same but thats a big difference.

Dolce Vita is moving and plans to reopen in February. The building that it leased for 3 years is being sold by the owner of the building.
Dolce Vita was always a great restaurant and it will remain so when it reopens in a new location. |

Hum...makes sense that you would glorify Pettas and Dolce Vita with there own threads if you knew that they'd be moving into Downtown within a span of a few months. Gillen must be your benefactor. Pathetic. Why pay rent on a building paying school and property taxes when you can move Downtown and rip the entire taxbase off. If these businesses move, they should be ashamed of themselves. |

Oh ya, a sale must be imminent! No wonder they moved out, it's always easier to sell a vacant building than one that is bringing in $ and has a reliable tenant. Gotcha. |

Actually, the statement that Dolce Vita is planning to reopen in February in a different location is NOT top secret knowledge nor something that I was told by Mr. Gillen or any other person. The information was published in an advertisement placed by Dolce Vita in the Daily Gazette early last week.
Try reading the newspaper -- then you might become informed about what is happening in your community. |

I consider Rotterdam my community...much to my chagrin......don';t go to the city much
have no desire to see what isn't and what they think is so great....
centered in one part of town....
BTW...maybe Dolce will be at the old Cornell's...
