.. that means $6k in income, just to qualify. Not a lot of Schenectady residents pulling 6-10k/mo right now, unless both adults work.

crazy

Gee, those high paid DOT employees on State St could afford to buy a house in the city.   But they didn't.

Maybe the resident poster, the cheerleader (or any of his AKA usernames) for the city and it's high taxes can tell us WHY those high paid state employees avoided buying a house in the city despite their obvious ability to afford it.

Maybe the resident poster, the cheerleader (or any of his AKA usernames) for the city and it's high taxes can tell us WHY the extravagantly paid Morris (of Proctors who is SO GREEDY that he's forcing volunteers to pay), who can MORE THAN AFFORD to own an expensive house in the city AND pay the taxes, HAS CHOSEN TO FLEE THE CITY ????????????

Maybe this will work better.    Tried to put the spreadsheet in the message thing, but it didn't line up, thus making it difficult to follow, so I'm going it the long way.

Did you catch the Gazette yesterday (3/16) for the open houses in the city for Sunday?

Here comes the info on them.    One that was o the FSBO listing didn't have the taxes listed.   The one on Eastholm Rd, it's not listed on the assessment roll by that house number.   IThen the 1149 Ardsley, I forgot to look up the assessment, it's $188,800

Some will seem strange in that their MLS makes it seem like their 2011 or 12 listings, but the initial dates are the previous year.   Some of these have been through multiple realtors with no one interested in buying, the MLS#'s are the current listings, but the initial date listed and the original asking prices are from the first realtor; when this is the case, these reflect only semming continuous listings, i.e. they didn't have a "break" in listing time more than maybe a couple weeks, or over the holidays; I wouldn't use an initial date of 2010 if the list was removed the first week of 2011 and not offerred again til 2012.

Hey where's the big cheerleader?   Maybe he can tell us what's wrong with Ardsley Road, and Consaul Rd   Why are so many houses on one street?   What kind of impression does that give to someone from outside the city, coming in, and seeing so many houses on one street for sale.   Hmmm, something wrong in the city?

Gee, I'm surprised this little house isn't on the tour, it's been for sale since 2010.   It was listed in August 2010 for $69,000, asking price was reduced in October 2010 to $59,000.   In 2011 the city claimed it's worth $71,000 yet, the asking price was reduced to $43,000 last October and STILL no willing buyers, and then January of this year the asking price was lowered to it's present $36,900.

Wouldn't it just be the perfect house for DV.   The aunties can move into the senior housing.   This would be walking distance to the aunties.   And DV claims to love downtown so much, he could walk there, the museum is around the corner, the libary is close by.   It's a Polish neighborhood so he that would be perfect for him.   And a church right there too.

Nice little bungalow built for two?   (DV and ?)

Estimated annual taxes just $3,050.

Sch’dy open house, part two

Residents of the city of Schenectady know that, despite its many problems, it’s a good place to live. A big part of that is the strength of its neighborhoods and the quality and variety of its housing stock — all of which will be on display today with the second Schenectady Open House Tour, beginning noontime at the high school.
What makes this open house different from the typical one put together by a Realtor or group of them is that it was the city’s idea and the city is leading the effort. Potential buyers of the 41 participating homes will be able to meet city offi cials, including Mayor Gary McCarthy, and get answers to any questions they may have about crime, police and fire protection, taxes, etc. School representatives will also be on hand to talk about what the district has to offer and address people’s concerns, legitimate or not.
The first open house, held last month, was an unexpected success, with seven buyers and sellers signing purchase agreements on the spot, and several other deals consummated shortly thereafter.
But perhaps it shouldn’t have been such a surprise. As former Mayor Al Jurczynski showed with the Guyanese, people respond when they feel wanted, even courted by city leaders — and, above all, when they think they are getting a good deal. Real estate in Schenectady is just that.
