When ya live in a world where everything attached to the Govt is "out to get ya"... It must be a very sad place.
IMO, this "Don't Trust The Govt" attitude by some on this board is just a scam... just for political points. When they are out of facts, and want to counter any govt program, agency or office... all they need to do is say:
"IF IT'S FROM THE US GOVT, IT MUST BE WRONG"!
A very convenient way to communicate. Except that most on this board trust the Govt in other things. Proof? ~They fly on commercial airlines controlled by GOVT AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS. ~They drive on bridges built to GOVT specs, and inspected by GOVT inspectors. ~They invest their hard earned dollars in Govt Controlled IRA's, Savings bonds, & Banks. Or some combination of the above.
They could look up the facts, spend some time researching the issue and make an intelligent reply... but, "IF IT'S FROM THE US GOVT, IT MUST BE WRONG"!... followed by a few and ending up with a 'CHA-F'EN-CHING', takes almost no effort and is soooo much more entertaining than actual facts.
I wonder if all Ron Paul Groupies think this way or is it just on this board?

Your assertion is that these things mentioned couldn't be done without government regulation?

Read it again Cicero. I never made that assertion... You Get It Wrong Again, And You're Not Even The Government!

I don't "trust" the government in other things...I AM FORCED TO RELY ON THEIR INEPTNESS. I showed you three examples of government regulations and their failures. Failures which very well may have happened if airlines, bridge building, and banks were not regulated by the government.
So your assumption that most on this board "trust" government in other things is not accurate, since we are FORCED by government to accept their regulation. Then when the promise of government security FAILS in grand fashion like 9-11, it gives governmetn another reason to create MORE LAWS and MORE REGULATIONS.
Should I post the reports claiming WMD's in Iraq or the Gulf of Tonkin attack? Those are government facts you can chew on.

Forced??? No one FORCES you to cross a Govt Inspected Bridge. No one FORCES you to fly on Commercial aircraft. No one FORCES you to put your dollars in Govt Regulated banks or IRA's.
A good example is your earlier post of how 96 (?) workers were killed building the Hoover Dam. Today, Govt regulation (like OSHA) makes the work place a much safer place. Construction workers should not have to die on the job... accidents will happen, but what happened to those who died building the Dam, wasn't an accident. It was lack of concern for workers safety.

Man, you still continue to draw illogical conclusions under false premises. So you are suggesting that if there were OSHA regulations in 1931 there would have been less deaths and injuries while building the Hoover Dam?
How you disconnect technological advances in relation to workplace safety is beyond me. It wasn't lack of concern, it was lack of technology.
This Technology was readily available in the 30's when the Hoover dam was built.
In 1931 alone, these men died needlessly from the heat working on the Dam. Heat Prostration Date Name Employer June 25, 1931 Raymond R. Staying Safe in Hot Weather-Part 2 Tuesday, July 27, 2010 8:24:34 PM America/Los_Angeles
Heat stress is one of the most serious health hazards facing workers in the Gulf. The risk from the heat and humidity is exacerbated by the long days worked and the protective equipment required, e.g. chemical resistant Tyvek coveralls, boots and gloves. More than 667 workers have already been treated for heat-related illness, some were very serious.
At OSHA's urging, BP has now implemented at all work sites a heat stress management plan that includes a matrix setting out specific work/rest requirements based on the heat, relative humidity, and the protective equipment worn.
Administrative or work practice controls of an effective heat program include: Acclimatize workers Replace fluids Reduce the physical demands Provide recovery areas Reschedule hot jobs Monitor workers OSHA has more information on its website to help companies protect their workers from heat. Remember, heat is dangerous, simple measures can save lives…be proactive…not reactive.

How true that is, many workers actually hated some of the safety precautions put into place as it made their job harder. An interesting story is that of the Mohawk steelworkers who built skyscrapers like the Empire State building, many removed their harnesses once up on the building as not only did it slow them down many felt it was more dangerous due to the fact of it snaring objects.
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."

Yea, and Dale Earnhardt wouldn't wear a HONS devise that would have saved his life. You can't fix stupid.

Maybe so but in the end that was their choice, they understood the danger of not using safety gear but proceeded not to use it any ways.

And in 1931 16 workers died while working on the Hoover Dam of Heat Related causes... If the Employer or OSHA had stepped in with reasonable work practices... those 16 men would likely not have died. Big Govt would have saved their lives... but it would have cost more to build the dam. The 99%ers had to die, so that the 1%ers could prosper.

Dozens if not hundreds of workers die from heat related causes every year in the work place, most if not all the cases are due from them pushing themselves to hard. We do not have slavery any more, if you can't handle the job you quit it is as simple as that.

Ah yes... The free market. You are free to die if you want to work here. Thank you Henry, but I'd rather live in the USA that our parents and grandparents fought to improve... not the one you envision. If you don't like breathing asbestos.. work some where else. If falling off the scaffold bothers you, then quit. If you think that crane working over your head might break and fall again... work some where else. Ron Paul at his finest! When these conservatives who are pushing Fracking in NY State start drinking Fracking Fluid in their morning coffee, and develop 10 different kinds of cancer... they will cry..."Where is my BIG GOVT? Why Didn't they Protect NY Water?" See... THE GOVT SUCKS!

When these conservatives who are pushing Fracking in NY State come home one day to find that their home was destroyed by a FrackQuake, and their homeowners insurance doesn't cover Man Made Earthquakes... They will weep for Big Govt to step in and protect them from Fracking... Too late. Your water is poisoned, you now live on a huge fault that rumbles daily, and all that Natural Gas that Fracking delivered, won't reach your home because the Natural Gas pipeline carrying the gas was ruptured by the FrackQuake.
