The US Department of Justice took an important step in combating the epidemic of Republican vote suppression efforts on
Friday. The Justice Department blocked a South Carolina law requiring voters to present photo identification, because the
law would disproportionately disenfranchise minority voters.

Eric Holder playing the 'race card' again????....Why I never....

The argument is beyond flawed. If this was true, then 'minorities' wouldn't have proper ID to do a great many things. Social Services would be denied. Wouldn't be able to leagally drive a car. Wouldn't be able to board an airplane. Wouldn't be able to buy beer or other spirits. Wouldn't be able to attend collage. And anything else you can think of that would require proper ID.

From The Driver License Status of the Voting Age Population in Wisconsin:

1. Many adults do not have either a drivers license or a photo ID. An estimated 23 percent of
persons aged 65 and over do not have a Wisconsin drivers license or a photo ID. The
population of elderly persons 65 and older without a drivers license or a state photo ID
totals 177,399, and of these 70 percent are women.

2. An estimated 98,247 Wisconsin residents ages 35 through 64 also do not
have either a drivers license or a photo ID.

3. Minorities and poor populations are the most likely to have drivers license problems. Less than
half (47 percent) of Milwaukee County African American adults and 43 percent of Hispanic
adults have a valid drivers license compared to 85 percent of white adults in the Balance of State.

4. The situation for young adults ages 18-24 is even worse
-- with only 26 percent of African Americans and 34 percent of Hispanics in Milwaukee County
with a valid license compared to 71 percent of young white adults in the Balance of State.

If the premise is true that Minorities vote more for Democrats than for Republicans, you can change the outcome
of a close election by requiring a Drivers License to vote.

So I guess none of them can do anything that requires any type proper I.D.

I guess we can conclude that the entire I.D system is racist and ment to keep minorities down

You don't need a drivers license to get social services... BUT
A state issued social services identity card is/was acceptable ID to vote.  Some states no longer accept that
identification.

'The Republican campaign to disenfranchise voters' has been rejected as Unconstitutional in many states.
We all know how this board supports the US Constitution, (except when the Constitution disagrees with their agenda)

The conversation is about a way bigger picture than voting.....the story is pretending that all those liberties like voting will be lost if you need an ID.....yet the RealID/passport of the Patriot Act will be pushed here....these folks will
be 'saved' via the use of the Patriot Act and the good that it does and the taxes set aside to 'assist' those said pathetic Americans who cant vote.....oh,,,,we'll pay for it......and it's NOT ABOUT $$.......

There are more than 20 states that require ID and the Supreme Court ruled that it is not unconstitutional to insure a fair vote.                                  updated 4/28/2008 11:50:09 AM ET

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws.

In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana's strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said it was needed to prevent fraud.                                                                                     http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24351798/ns/politics/t/supreme-court-upholds-voter-id-law/#.TwJg-lZn3sM

Well, for once the 'under-served' are being treated like the 'over-served'!! Same laws apply to everyone. And if it a law...that a state can require ID....then so be it! And if there are folks who want to vote but refuse to get a simple form of ID required...then perhaps they have something to hide.....yes?

I would think that the liberal socialist progressives would like nothing better than to have all americans carry a required ID! Socialists love that crap! The more info they have on ya....the better they can control ya!!

The liberal socialist progressives are probably praying that this goes off without a hitch.....cause it fits their 'socialist agenda'!!! I keep tellin' ya all that the reps and dems are a different side of the same exact corrupt coin!!!

As posted above, there are some people who will have to spend $200+ meet the new voter ID laws.  These people
have been voting all their lives with state issued ID's... Thanks to the Republican Voter ID Laws, previous state ID's
will no longer be accepted.

I wonder if Bumble would mind having to pay $200 to vote in an election. Big Govt? Taxes & Fees?  When it fits his
agenda, Bumble loves em!

With Senders, nothing is what it is... It's always part of a larger agenda... a huge conspiracy.

everything ALWAYS ripples out and causes an effect and affects everything.....

doesn't everyone 'check' everything or atleast follow a train of logical thought? although I may not be precisely correct, by taking those regulation/legislations/mandates into account and
putting them together like a puzzle, it is a possibility......

what is your possibility? wont you share?

To paraphrase  Sigmund Freud... "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar".
Why do Conservatives take every mundane event, and turn it into a World Domination Conspiracy.

it doesn't mean it's necessarily a conspiracy....it's the lack of foresight that we have sometimes.....little by little legislation always leads to somewhere....

where would you like to be led?
