Socialist Europe hardly a model for America

    I read Roger Grasier’s Dec. 9 letter, “Socialism doesn’t seem to have hurt Europe” three times, At first I thought it might be a plant by the Gazette staff to create a stir, but that would be a fi rst.
    My guess is Grasier must watch CNN or one of NBC’s channels. Europe is falling apart! Greece is out of money. Spain and Italy are just about out of money. Nightly there are protests from the liberals and union workers over the fact that the gravy train of socialism has been derailed by reality, and Grasier thinks Europe’s love affair with socialism is just fi ne?
    If it wasn’t for Germany, England and France, although just barely, Europe would be gone. They are trying to reorganize just like a company that is on life support. One by one, they are dropping the great socialist program of government-controlled health care. They can’t afford it. Maybe we can trade Obama for [German Chancellor Angela] Merkel or another European leader who has finally seen the light — socialism still doesn’t work.
    Europe has finally come to this realization. Hopefully, next November we can get rid of our socialist leader.
