A family in North Dakota that were members of the “Sovereign Citizens” movement became in June the first American citizens in history to be arrested with the help of Predator drone aircraft. The six adult Brossarts allegedly belonged to the Sovereign Citizen Movement, an antigovernment group that the FBI considers extremist and violent. The family had repeated run-ins with local police, including the arrest of two family members earlier that day arising from their clash with a deputy over the cattle. Rodney Brossart, his daughter Abby and his three sons face a total of 11 felony charges, including bail jumping and terrorizing a sheriff, as well as a misdemeanor count against Rodney involving the stray cattle A search of the property turned up four rifles, two shotguns, assorted bows and arrows and a samurai sword, according to court records. Police also found the six missing cows, valued at $6,000. LA Times http://mobile.latimes.com/p.p?.....L.w&pageNumber=2 |

Gee, since it's now policy, I wonder why they didn't just have the drone kill the family, would have saved a lot of time and money on the trial... not that trials mean anything anymore. |

Rampage, the purpose of using the drones was to protect the lives of both the police and of those arrested. The drone's cameras could verify that the terrorist Cattle thieves were unarmed... Since the FBI lists this group as likely armed and dangerous, with out that knowledge, the police would have had assumed the group was armed and treated the threat accordingly. |

Right, and we used the same type of knowledge so well so many times in the past. I mean really, wasn't Waco handled just right, too? |

The police using drones in this case, prevented a situation similar to Waco. |

Spying??? Bumble, there was no spying going on. A police raid was in progress where a known "armed and dangerous" group was being apprehended. Once the criminals were known to be unarmed, the police could proceed with a less lethal response than would have been used with out that knowledge. When a "COPS" helocopter is used to capture a fleeing drug dealer... Is that spying??? When police aircraft are used to locate meth labs, pot fields, or find kidnapped children... is that spying? When police surveillance apprehends Americans bringing illegal immigrants into the USA... is that spying? Any activity observed from the air, that would normally be open to aircraft from above, is not spying. |

Next...The violent occupiers...They have proven to be very dangerous and have a total disregard for personal property rights. If Gingerich wins, I'm sure the Occupiers will be at the top of the drone list. That should make you feel safer box. |
