You OBVIOUSLY don't appreciate that we have the FINEST public servants in uniform anywhere in the State of New York and possibly in America -- and WE DO. The Rotterdam Police have all of my support and confidence and if they had to shoot any of the Nattering Naybobs or Nayboobs of Negativity -- it would be rather unfortunate but I would never dare to question the need to or their judgment in doing so..

Wow, I would like to hear about THAT one!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

The Gazette censors out bad news like that rather than expect the political class to deal with it. Dealing with criminality flies in the face of liberalism so in their minds it is the one thing government CAN'T DO.

Ya' know, I was kind of curious about this thread, since I read about this shooting all last week in the Gazette. It didn't seem logical to me that any news agency would ignore a murder. So I did a little poking around to see exactly what was reported on this shooting. Let's start with Channel 6. After running a story on Nov. 12, they posted this on Nov. 13 along with the body of their previous report:
"attempted murder in connection with another case, was denied bail Tuesday morning and his case adjourned until Friday.
According to Schenectady Police, 31-year-old William Robinson of Albany Street shot Charles Taylor in the calf through the door of his car on Monday.
Police say Robinson was carrying a stolen handgun when they picked up.
Robinson is the brother of Rashad Robinson, killed early Saturday morning outside Joes Bar on Fifth Avenue after someone fired several shots into a crowd.
Police will only say there is a connection with the two shootings."

Now Channel 13 is a bit more respectable, IMO. But they didn't have much to add on their final report on Nov. 14. In fact, they failed to report that an arrest HAD indeed been made in connection with one of the shootings:

"SCHENECTADY - Police in Schenectady are investigating two shootings that happened this weekend, one was fatal.
The latest one was Sunday morning. Police say a man was hit in the leg during a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Hulett and Albany streets.
Police say the victim was sitting in a car at the time. There was another shooting early Saturday morning outside a bar on Fifth Avenue.
Police say someone opened fire on a crowd. Three people were hit, and one of the victims, 23-year-old Rashad Robinson, died.
Police say the two shootings are not related. No arrests have been made in either case.

But this is all television news and they typically don't do things as in depth as print, right? So I went to the Times Union, which is a pretty respectable paper. I had trouble using their archives, since it only pulled up four hits for the deceased. The last article I could find was on Nov. 15, two days after the first arrest.

"SCHENECTADY -- A 31-year-old man charged with attempted murder a day after his brother was gunned down fired a semiautomatic handgun at close range into a car and hit the driver in the leg, police said.
William Robinson, 31, sprayed four or five bullets into the vehicle in the vicinity of Albany and Hulett Streets in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood, according to a felony complaint filed by Detective Steven Sheldon.
Police have not released the name of the 30-year-old man wounded shortly before 11:10 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. As of Tuesday, police had not made any arrests in Saturday's fatal shooting and were not releasing information about the investigation.
The gun violence Sunday morning followed the killing of William Robinson's brother, Rashad Robinson, 23, outside a Fifth Avenue bar in the Mont Pleasant neighborhood about 5 a.m. on Saturday.
Two people in the crowd outside Joe's Bar -- George Lloyd, 23, of Schenectady and Shawn Coons, 28, of Rotterdam -- were injured.
William Robinson was arraigned Tuesday morning in City Court on a charge of attempted murder, two weapons offenses, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies.
Appearing with his public defender, Robinson pleaded not guilty.
The court papers state Robinson was armed with a loaded Luger 9 mm that was reported stolen out of Mississippi last month when he was arrested Monday afternoon at Albany Street and Brandywine Avenue. It was unclear if the same weapon was used in the Sunday morning attack."

And then there's the People's Gazette...the paper always trying to highlight the good and downplay the bad. I half-expected to only find a brief by the way some of you have been blasting it in this thread. To my surprise, I found this story on Nov. 12, which was the only one to actually include a photo from the shooting:

"SCHENECTADY — Gunshots fired into a crowd outside Joe’s Bar on Fifth Avenue early Saturday morning left one man dead and two others injured.
It was the city’s third homicide this year.
Witnesses told police that an individual fi red several shots into a crowd that was standing outside the bar at 1306 Fifth Ave. about 5:15 a.m.
Rashad Robinson, 23, of Schenectady, died from a gunshot wound to the torso, said Lt. Mark McCracken, while two others sustained nonlife-threatening wounds.
George Lloyd, 23, of Schenectady, was treated in Ellis Hospital’s emergency room for a wound to the leg. Shawn Coons, 28, of Rotterdam, was shot in the forearm and is being treated at Albany Medical Center Hospital after the bullet nicked an artery, McCracken said.
“There was some sort of a party or event being held at the bar,” McCracken said. “I didn’t hear of any other witnesses who were affiliated with the event who knew what was going on.”
McCracken said he could not estimate how many people were standing outside the bar at the time of the shooting. Joseph Cimmino, the owner of Joe’s Bar, said there was no party at the time of the shooting and that it was a normal night. He hung up when asked about the crowd outside the bar.
No one answered at the bar’s number Saturday evening, but a message said the bar is open Monday through Sunday until 4 a.m. State regulations require bars to close by 4 a.m. McCracken said the bar was still open at the time of the incident or appeared to have just closed.
Police had no suspect or motive Saturday, but Mc-Cracken said police saw at least two vehicles leave the scene immediately after the shooting.
Detectives and evidence technicians continue to investigate. Police are asking that anyone with information come forward.
Officers from the Rotterdam and Glenville police departments assisted at the crime scene."

Certainly comprehensive. But did they bother to follow the story? Well let's see: They mentioned Rashad Robinson and the shooting in the paper on Nov. 13, Nov. 14, and Nov. 15, but stopped for three days. Then on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19, they picked up the coverage again, even sending a reporter to the kid's funeral:

"SCHENECTADY — Guests might have expected the grief etched on the faces of family and friends of 23-year-old Rashad Robinson, but an additional dimension of pain was visible Friday outside Refreshing Spring Church of God in Christ.
It was one of undirected rage and doubt about whether the person who shot Robinson would ever be caught and justice would ever be served.
Kelly Freeman hurried down Georgetta Dix Boulevard and away from the church in tears, as she struggled to catch her breath after just viewing the open casket of the young man she watched her sons grow up with.
“I knew him since he was a little boy,” said Freeman, who proclaimed herself Robinson’s “second mom.”
“My baby protected everybody. He was a loving person. He’d do anything for you. But don’t hurt anybody, don’t mess with anybody he loved, and then he was your worst nightmare.”
Close friends and family knew Robinson as “Twin” — a loving moniker given to him as a tribute to him and his twin brother Robert, said Freeman.
“I’ve always been there for him, always,” she said. “God, I just really want the person to be found. But God bless him when he goes to jail. God bless him.”
Pastor Clarence Johnson said the community was in shock since learning that Rashad had been shot to death outside Joe’s Bar and Grill one week ago, on Nov. 12 shortly after 5 a.m. With the suspect still at large, they’re not only shocked but desperate for justice.
Since Robinson’s shooting, the city’s third homicide this year and one of a handful of recent shootings, makeshift memorials have gone up on Fifth Street across from the bar. Some have signs that ask that the violence stop. Others posted at the intersection of Albany and Hulett streets, however, appear to call for retribution, with messages like “War Time Baby” and “Fire in the [expletive] hole.”
That would be the worst response, said Johnson from inside his office before Friday’s funeral service.
“Retribution, revenge — that is not what should happen now because that only stirs up more anger,” Johnson said. “It increases animosity. It causes people to wonder how far the actual respect for one another has drifted.”
The Albany Street intersection is where one of Robinson’s brothers, William Robinson, was accused of shooting Charles Taylor through the door of his car just one day after his brother’s death.
William Robinson was charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Lt. Mark McCracken said Friday that the Schenectady Police Department’s investigation into Taylor’s shooting is continuing and that he didn’t want to speculate about the motive behind it.
“That investigation’s ongoing,” he said. “We’re investigating the possibility that they are connected, but that hasn’t been determined.”
The brother’s arrest was a difficult turn of events for the family, Johnson said.
“It’s very hard,” he said. “This is a double whammy for the mother; it’s a double whammy for the whole family because of the way it turned out. The members of the community are very, very upset about whatever is going on relative to this particular incident, and it just opens up wounds.”
Family and friends inside the church Friday morning exchanged whispered fears that “the authorities” might show up. Police officers were on the scene across the street Friday, patrolling as the crowd gathered.
Anguished wails pierced the church halls and lobby just prior to the start of calling hours. From the sidewalk, young kids wearing sweatshirts saying “Rest in Peace Big Brother” hugged one another, at times wiping tears from their faces.
As of Friday afternoon, police said they have no suspect or motive yet in Robinson’s shooting.
That no arrest has been made in connection with Robinson’s death made the day difficult and full of questions for those who came, said Pastor Johnson.
“It makes them wonder whether the person will ever be caught,” he said. “It makes them wonder, how can something like this happen? And then the perpetrator, how can it be that they would even think about trying to do something like this?”
For the short period of time that Johnson said he knew Robinson, he could see that Robinson was trying to change his ways: “He was trying to get things together, get his mind and his thoughts together so that he could become a better person.”
Robinson was growing as a person, he said, and had aspirations of becoming a more positive person. That was the message Johnson said he would relay to those attending Friday’s funeral.
“He was gentle with people,” Johnson said. “He liked people, especially young folk. He was interested in them changing their focus to look for more positive things. Place your mind on positive things because all of this is negativity, and when you allow negativity to take control then it generates a major problem for the person that allows it.”"

So here we have an in depth look at the tragedy, a grieving family and updated information about the crime and arrests. Now that's suppression that I can get behind! Actually, in most circles, they call it good reporting. Journalism even. But here...well...you know...it's all socialist propaganda aimed at making the city look safe.

Well for once they did their job? What is the excuse the other 90% of the time? I feel like you just told me how the stuck clock was right twice today! Hack, with all due respect- you need to get back to work because the editors are expecting stories on some legislator's cheese recipe, or maybe some cheerleading squad's trip to a big game, and there are so many hours in a day to get in by deadline. Plus, there is some controversy in East Bun that needs to be covered about a dog peeing on a hydrant.

I don't really care. I'm saying you're wrong in this instance. But don't let facts get in the way of your windbagging. Bluster away. Here's a start: The gazette sucks. The gazette is wrong all the time. The gazette is socialist. The gazette is evil...the gazette is killing schenectady...blah blah blah. Feel better now?
