ROTTERDAM
Battle over party names rendered moot by law
BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.

There’s a reason the Lower Taxes Now! line won’t appear on the ballot in Rotterdam, but it has nothing to do with the recently resolved court challenge to the independent party.
State election law prevents any candidate with two or more established party endorsements from securing a third independent party line. That means none of the Democratic candidates running for offi ce in Rotterdam ever had a chance to list themselves on a separate Lower Taxes Now! line — because all of them are also endorsed by the Conservative Party.
Instead of receiving a separate line, the Democrats will be allowed to place a small symbol representing the independent line next to their names on the ballot. County Board of Elections Commissioner Brian Quail said the law is intended to prevent ballots from getting cluttered and overly complicated. ........................>>>>..................>>>>........................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01501&AppName=1

Once the NNTP gets slaughtered in November we won't have to deal with this nonsense again!

That's what some said in 2009 when the NNTP ran four candidates in Rotterdam.  This year there are nine
candidates including several campaigning in the City of Schenectady and Town of Duanesburg.

2013 will likely bring more NNTP candidates in towns across the county and in the City of Schenectady.
There have been potential candidates in Albany and Saratoga counties who have inquired about backing.

Brad you don't even live here anymore... It's real amusing the teabagging NNTP nut has no problem trying to force candidates upon us from afar... Go away Brad you are as much a hypocrite as any other politician! When your goof troop loses the republicans will finally toss you aside as they should have 2 years ago!

You have a short memory.  The Republicans did not support my candidacy for County Legislature in 2009 (2 years ago).
Their endorsed candidates were Mike Viscusi (now running with the Dems) and Mary Barrie.  Thus, there is no "tossing
aside" potential.

You seem bothered that, although I no longer reside in Schenectady County, there remains a conservative force to
oppose the liberal/progressive forces that control (most) town and county governments in Schenectady county.  With or
without me, it will persevere, grow, and prosper.

What bothers me is your self righteous hypocritical nonsense... Your "team" blasts the democrats for having political science students from suny albany help get sigs... Yet have a tea bagging carpet bagger like you RUNNING THE CAMPAIGN!! The only difference between you and other politicians is you try to con people into thinking you are different!

From what I have seen and heard about BL is nothing but positive. I have heard that he is smart, articulate, educated, conservative, organized, hard working and nice all around guy. I have also heard that he is very active in volunteer work EVERYWHERE!!

So I and many other folks don't have a negative view of this guy.

No, actually, carpetbagging is when someone moves INTO a district in order to run for an office.  You know, just like Hillary Clinton did right here in New York.
