Despite repeated assurances from President Obama and military leaders that the U.S. would not send uniformed military personnel into Libya, four U.S. service members arrived on the ground in Tripoli over the weekend.

According to Pentagon spokesman Capt. John Kirby, the four unidentified troops are there working under the State Department's chief of mission to assist in rebuilding the U.S. Embassy.

A U.S. embassy emblem is seen on a broken door during a visit for the press in the vandalized U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, Libya, Sept. 12.

Kirby noted the embassy in Tripoli was badly damaged during the conflict between Muammar Qaddafi's forces and the rebels.

Two of the military personnel are explosive-ordnance experts who will be used to disable any explosives traps left in the embassy. The other two are "general security," according to Kirby.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland assured reporters Monday that the four individuals are not in Libya to fight.

"When the president made his commitment to 'no boots on ground' ... obviously that had to do with entering into the fray between the Qaddafi forces and the Libyan freedom fighters, and that's not what these guys are engaged in," Nuland said.

Kirby also made clear these troops are in no way part of a military operation on the ground. They are armed, however, if for some reason they need to protect themselves.

The troops are only expected to be there for a short while. After the assessment of the embassy is complete, they are expected to leave.

Obama assured Americans in March when the bombing campaign over Libya began that there would be no boots on the ground. From the East Room of the White House on March 18, he said: "The United States is not going to deploy ground troops into Libya."

I guess that's one more lie to attribute to Obama.

By your posted definition, of 'boots on the ground', that means you are posting that combat troops are in every country that the US has a staffed embassy. (I think NOT)

US troops are in every country that the USA has a staffed Embassy.
There are no combat troops there (according to FoxSnooze), just the accompanying embassy guard, as required by US law.

Box either now supports boot on the ground, or is now redefining boots on the ground.  It's boots on the ground for a kinetic military action, not a war.  We're just there rebuilding the embassay...While the Libya is still in the middle of a "revolution".  Why do we need diplomats in Libya in the middle of THEIR revolution?

Embassy's are mostly irrelevant most of the time, but in the middle of political turmoil, they are essential, both for the protection of US citizens, and for the promotion of US assistance for the new government.

1. From the East Room of the White House on March 18, he said: "The United States is not going to deploy ground troops into Libya."
2. There currently ARE "boots on the ground" in Libya, armed.

What part of that is under contention?  He said they wouldn't be, and they are.  Another lie.  Those facts are not, and can not be, in dispute.

MT is soooo trying to manufacture an issue where none exists...
(He posts about 'lies' then he, well lets see... rearranges the truth, by posting that Obama deployed ground troops into Libya... when we all know this isn't true)

I think MT should send an emergency email to every one of those countries where the USA has an embassy, informing them that their country has been invaded by (LMAO) "GROUND TROOPS", who are currently digging bunkers on the manicured front lawns of the embassy grounds.

~ For MT, The US 10th Mountain division has just invaded Libya and they are preparing for total victory!

~ For the rest of us, there are a few US embassy guards in Libya.

Just think of how upset MT would be if some US Boot Maker were to accidentally drop a few US BOOTS ON THE GROUND in Libya... Obama would REALLY be caught in his lies then!

So, are you trying to convince us that there are NO US Troops, on the ground in Libya?  That's the only question - yes or no Box.  It's really quite simple.

From your post"
1. From the East Room of the White House on March 18, he said: "The United States is not going to deploy ground troops into Libya."

There are as far as I know, no ground troops in Libya.  I assume the troops are US Marines, as they most often guard US Embassy's.  Embassy guards are typically made up of MP's or Infantry Marines, but not always.  If they were transferred to a combat group, they could be called Combat troops.  If they were transferred to the USMC band, they could be called Marine band troops... but they are not.  They are embassy guards, and as such, not GROUND TROOPS.

By the way, I would assume that the USA has had a military presence on the ground in Libya for months.  Covert troops would likely be in country for much of the intel gathering and advance FO capabilities.  But again, they are not Combat troops.

So that MT can sleep tonight... there probably  are and have been US troops on the ground for months in Libya.  IF you consider that combat troops, that's up to you.

Have you ever been caught masturbating in the closet... A one word answer, yes of no.

Yes, IMO there are and have likely been some US military troops in Libya for a long time.
NO, there are not, as Obama pointed out, COMBAT TROOPS in Libya.

Now answer my question!

It must hurt you to admit that Obama lied, so you resort to rude comments.
