We need new fire trucks in west Rotterdam and Princetown because of the new skyscrapers and multi story buildings that need a new shiny ladder truck to reach fires 5 stories and above.  These trucks just can't handle the new urban landscape that has developed in fire district 5.  TIC

C'mon DV, nobody is buying the lie.  From what I hear, there is some kind of federal or state grant money available for new shiny trucks, but that current building cannot garage them.  So in order to qualify they need a new building.  It's the tail wagging the dog.

Not really --- the tea-partiers are too stupid to comprehend that the Fire District actually needs the addition --- that by voting NO they are jeopardizing the quality of fire protection they will get.    If the tea-partiers want to live in 11th century ignorance .... go ahead .. move to Idaho or some other state or country  which is popular with skinheads and tea-partiers and folks who spend their lives with their heads up their asses.

definition please......either the fire goes out with chemicals or water....esplain youself.....I ain't no skinhead...but I bet I could wrastle you to submission....

They sure can! The problem is.......the already existing fire depts don't want to share the $$$$. That is why rems tried and failed to get their own taxing district.

A bunch of money hungry NNTPers tried to privatize our ambulance service and give it to a FOR PROFIT CORPORATION --- there was NEVER any attempt to merge our volunteer fire departments and - although I strongly believe it is something worth looking into - I understand that it will take a number of years to merge volunteer fire departments.

Funny thing -- NONE of the NNTP/tea-partiers who opposed the Pine Grove Expansion ever even brought up the subject of merging volunteer fire districts  ... never offered one thought as to how to save money and possibly cut taxes.    We did learn that Tomaselli has a nice family but couldn't become a real doctor so he became a chiropractor and McGarry was so wasteful that he bought a whole bunch of campaign signs and left half of them in his garage -- and then he tried to unload those by sneaking around town late at night putting on private property without permission and scaring senior citizens in the process.

Typical useless non productive bureaucrat rhetoric.  These democrats are a bunch of unaccomplished bums that couldn't earn a living without using the coercive power of the state for their livelihood.  Bums like DV needs to disparage a residents success to make himself feel accomplished.  And these are the scum bags that a minority of Rotterdam voted for.  These scum run for office because they are terrified of the thought of earning a living based on their own talents.  Because they know they would be nothing more than minimum wage workers.

Reading the comments about the electronic sign and and gazebo  makes me wonder about the credibility of the Republican NNTPers/tea-partiers  -- those projects were probably paid for with money raised by the auxillary or through ziti dinners and other fundraisers NOT through a bond proposal ...  so while they may not be necessary, it is perfectly fine to find other ways to raise the money to add those "extras"   --

but when Pine Grove Fire District proposes NECESSARY improvements like larger bays for larger fire equipment  and decontamination showers for the fire fighters and moving the command & communications facility ABOVE the flood line -----  the  Republican NNTPers/tea-partiers are all up in arms ....  it is clear that the Republican NNTPers/tea-partiers oppose public safety spending ... they oppose any progress in the town ... this also explains why they did so poorly in the General Election and why the party is rapidly going the way of the dinosaurs.

Couple of things, I'm not affiliated with any of these (Republican NNTPers/tea-partiers). I'm just an average taxpayer wondering how things get paid for. The key word that you used was "probably". Do you know for a fact that those two amenities I mentioned were paid for with fundraisers? Probably not. You're just guessing here. So if you do have facts, I'd like to hear them........your turn.

I guess it's the same reason that District 2 needs one?  And Schalmont and Mohonasen each need one on their high school campuses?

The entire town of rotterdam is a patchwork quilt sh!thole! Business and residential areas share the same areas. MFH is distastefully spotted thruout the town.

There has NEVER been a vision for future growth in rotterdam. It has always bowed to the 'friends and family' club under the democop rule under the heading of 'spot zoning'!
