Is the "as yet unnamed" business the one you spoke of some time ago?  Remember, it was the business that YOU were bringing to Rotterdam?

The business that wanted to move to Rotterdam -- has been waiting 12 months (almost 13 months) for a return phone call from the Supervisor and/or Deputy Supervisor.   I personally handed the Supervisor and the Deputy Supervisor the contact information  .. and the Supervisor responded that he would return the call and the Deputy Supervisor made a snotty comment about the political affiliation of the business owner.

The last time that I spoke with the business owner - they were still interested in relocating from their existing location  - hadn't ruled out Rotterdam but were looking at other locations.

Reputable businesses don't make it a practice to go to a municipality and hand a 'resident' their contact information so they can in turn hand it over to the town elected officials. Good business practice is when they go directly to the town officials....NOT a resident. I never heard of such a thing quite honestly don't believe it.

But hell.....at least this business might be lucky enough to not get boycotted and bashed by dvr!! Not like s/he has done to other local businesses.

Why would they need to go to the supervisor?  Any business can open in town - and if they need to go through zoning appeals, etc - the only thing one could assume from such a "connection" is they were looking for political favors - or a "good word" with Metroplex.

Anyone think that the owners of Bagels and Bakes, Gabriels or any other business made their first call to a town supervisor before evaluating for themselves if the area was right for their business?  Doubtful - this story has more holes in it than Dunkin - but then again, I'd expect nothing less from DVOR/GG/SB.

I'm sure these businesses didn't write down their name and phone number on a piece of paper and hand it over to a resident to give to the proper authorities.....I mean really!! Holes in it? Of course!!

Another pharmacy? With the curent changes in the insurance companies policies regarding the administration for prescription drugs, pharmacies may be on their way out. Mailing prescriptions is much cheaper and is slowly becoming the standard practice. I'm not saying I agree with this, but it is what it is. My point, I wish we had something other than  a company with a questionable future, that is moving from another Rotterdam location, and moving right across the street from a rival.  I for one think there are alot of wholes in this plan.

Even if it isn't ideal, if it ever leaves the area, the space will be more attractive to a prospective tenant than the shithole that is there now

Again, empty lot or free enterprise?

Leave it vacant, it creates zero employment.  Leave it unimproved, it creates no new taxes.

If CVS questioned their profit at this location, do you really think they'd choose to build here?  There's still profit in the Rx business - as well as the other services they offer, else they'd be closing stores all over.

Let the economy and consumers dictate who opens where.  Did anyone say "we don't need Hannaford, we've already got Chopper"?  No - the economy dictated that both could be profitable.  Survival of the fittest

Also, there is the point that if they move from one corner to another, at least we're keeping the business in town, and it's not being stolen to go down into the city, and they will still pay taxes on the new location (along with someone paying taxes on the old location).  Maybe since Walgreens hit so many obstacles trying to come in at the Recovery Room, they would be more willing and have the space to do what they want at 5 Corners (or will it be 2 circles when whoever is done with their "planning.")

No one cares what MT and his idiot cronies think .. the fact is that the owners of the business were NOT asking for any favors just wanted to speak with either the Supervisor or the Deputy Supervisor --- and like so many other things in the past 21 months --- the Supervisor and the Deputy Supervisor NEVER FOLLOWED THROUGH.

No one EVER said that this phantom business was asking for any favors...............YOU JUST DID!

And the truth of the matter is............this phantom business should have contacted the proper authorities and followed the steps to set up business like every other potential business INSTEAD of SUPPOSEDLY going to a mere resident!!! Just don't make any sense whatsoever!!!!!

But I'm sure if they disagree with your politics.........you'll trash and bash them and boycott them too!!! PATHETIC!!

CVS does not appear to care about the neighborhood and aesthetics if they intent to install a black vinyl fence at the Lawndale side.  I think a nice picket and aluminum fence and small shrubs are in order.  I'll be at town hall at 9am tomorrow with my FOIL form in hand to check out these plans.
