Followed these links. It's great. Everybody should read it. It goes into how first, there was a bunch of registered Republicans who started the No New Tax Party. Then, I guess they're talking about how Del Gallo and company started their Pool Party. Now, they have decided to fight back against these by... CREATING ANOTHER PARTY. The funniest part of this, it's called the "LOWER TAXES NOW" party, and they have the REMS tax cheerleader on this ballot.
We have been made aware of the efforts of certain individuals in the Rotterdam Community attempting to establish what they profess to be an "Independent Ballot Line" for the November Election. Coincidentally, all of these individuals are enrolled members of the Republican Party.
Other individuals, whose platform has been rejected unequivocally by every official political party in our community are attempting to do the same thing by mirroring the effort of the Republican Party, to create yet another "Independent Ballot Line" and dilute the significance of the Rotterdam Democratic Party. They have even retained the services of an individual who previously served as Executive Director of the NYS Republican Party to assist in this effort at interfering with and undermining our local election efforts.
After reviewing all of the information provided to us, we have chosen to counteract these efforts by creating our own "Independent Ballot Line" in November's Election entitled:
"LOWER TAXES NOW"
The "Lower Taxes Now" Ballot Line is the only independent ballot line that is designating the following candidates for the elective offices stated:
HARRY BUFFARDI – Rotterdam Town Supervisor
WAYNE CALDER – Rotterdam Town Board
MIKE VISCUSI - Rotterdam Town Board
JUDGE KEVIN MERCOGLAN – Rotterdam Town Justice
VINCE ROMANO – Rotterdam Highway Superintendent
ANGELO SANTABARBARA – Schenectady County Legislature
TONY JASENSKI – Schenectady County Legislature

Wait, they're saying to make sure we sign to approve of the Lower Taxes Now line, but they say thank you for supporting the Democratic Party. I thought if you wanted to make a new party, it was because you disagreed with something that the original parties were already standing for. So, what is it that the Lower Taxes Now party differs from the local Democratic Party on? If they don't differ, then why do you need the additional line? If they do differ, even on one thing, then why would the local Democrat website be stating that they wish for you to support this party / line?
