Maceka should be filling the previous assessor's ter which is a six-year stint.  Why would you re-assess the assessor who always did a good job and seems to be doing a good job now.  Have y9ou people nothing else to do but sit around a whine about town politics?

Councilwoman Nicola DiLeva and Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski, both part of the interview process for a new assessor, said they thought Macejka understood that the position would be re-evaluated at the end of the year. Godlewski said the board was not sure if a part-time assessor would be able to meet the town’s needs going into the future, so the yearlong trial wasn’t necessarily meant to remove Macejka.

“It was understood by him that it was a part-time position, and we were going to re-evaluate it at the end of this year,” said Godlewski. “That was my impression when we went through the interview process and it was explained to him that it was for a year. We may not have put it in there.”

Town Attorney Joseph Liccardi and Macejka prepared the resolution, which is scheduled for a vote Wednesday, Aug. 10, to clearly state the appointment would last the remainder of the six-year term, which was originally held by Craig Surprise.

“The town can’t say, ‘We are only going to keep him for a year.’ … It just doesn’t work that way,” Macejka said. “It is just correcting and amending the resolution. … It is not a debate, it is state law. An assessor has a six-year appointment.”

DiLeva said she questioned the resolution because during the interview process Macejka appeared to have no problem with the year agreement.

Macejka said the term ending after a year wasn’t discussed with him.

This is all bullcrap!!! Macejka damn well knew this was a part-time position with a re-evaluation in a year. And he clearly agreed to those conditions. And why??? Because his 'family' was now running the 'family business'. He knew that this was part of the plan right from the get go when the rotterdam dems were supporting and campaigning REVITALIZE ROTTERDAM!! Macejka was involved in those inner workings. He agreed to be part of the 'family business plan' aka REVITALIZE ROTTERDAM!!

However, the rotterdam 'friends and family business' is obviously on shaky ground. So Macejka wants to secure his position NOW so he too can screw the tax payers with a lucrative pension package!!

And might just be me......but lacardi is handling the legalities of this matter?????? Who's watching the rotterdam hen house??

last night!

and what info were they reading from that licardi used to write the one year part-time deal????

just like Eunice's pay the board can adjust this positions pay once a year

what is it with all parties involved that the laws of this state cant be read, understood and followed

i could see if the assessor was elected that a term would be finished out but the position is apointed so for better or worse the position carries a six year term

maybe an elected assessor is the way to go?

So exactly how many hours does the rotterdam town assessor work a week? And who else in rotterdam's town hall can verify these hours? If he works as the assessor in the town of guilderland in a full time position, exactly 'what' hours are spent in rotterdam? Assuming of course that he works monday - friday from 8-ish to 4-ish in guilderland....yes? Perhaps someone should check with the town of guilderland.

Who exactly and truthfully can verify his hours worked in rotterdam? AND.....how well is 'part time' working out for the town?

Excellent point BT. All employees full and part time, elected, appointed should be scrutinized.   Especially the public works coordinator, police, hey staff, and parks. Get back to us when you get more info on that. Good job lapdog. Or is it lappig. Or lapcat. Whatever. Sniff around you grunt.
