Texting bans could boost, not reduce, accident rates, study says
Study of four states with texting laws finds higher crash rates in three of them

By Kevin McCaney
Sep 29, 2010
Laws have often created unintended consequences, but rarely have they created inverse consequences, getting the opposite effect than lawmakers intended. Prohibition is probably one example. Laws that target distracted driving could be another.

Some state laws passed against texting while driving apparently have resulted in more accidents caused by people texting while driving, according to a new study by the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI).

HLDI studied accident rates in four states that have anti-texting laws and found that accident rates hadn’t fallen. In fact, the trend is going the other way.

“Texting bans haven't reduced crashes at all,” Adrian Lund, president of HLDI and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, said in a statement. “In a perverse twist, crashes increased in three of the four states we studied after bans were enacted. It's an indication that texting bans might even increase the risk of texting for drivers who continue to do so despite the laws."

Everyone needs help from A-jello. It will make us feel safe since we cannot use our own judgment anymore being stupid Americans. He will save us!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

It would make perfectly logical sense for somebody that is poor to purchase the cheapest food with the highest calories.  It would certainly make more sense to the poor to buy a fat and calorie filled bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy for $1.00 than a tofu salad for $2.00.  But bureaucrats don't think like that, since they are so far removed from reality and the poor people for which they claim to be helping.  They need to pass senseless feel good legislation to fill up their campaign flyers.

I guess on the bright side, the unintended consequence of passing this foolish legislation, the poor people can now read the menu and get the most calorie bang for the buck.

Most people could care less how many calories are in the food they eat as long as the food they eat tastes good they will keep buying it. Just watch the weight loss programs on TV and see how even when healthy food is provided for them they send their kids out to buy fried chicken with french fries because they don't like the taste of the veggies.

And if he can't Bob God will! But will they save us from Judy DAG and her new County Home? ANG's going to find out what people really think of him-AGAIN. One whupping was not enough.

Keep the chicken s**t flying Angelo! So what if no one watches OSM-Admin can post it here. This County would collapse without your ninny nanny legislation. ANG is a vital part of the DEM working together moron team!

What this boils down to is that BIG BUSINESS GETS A BOOST, AND MA AND PA PLACES GET THE SHAFT. Because not one single ignoramus on these local legislatures ever makes a payroll, they have no idea how much money and effort (otherwise known as payroll for those who collect checks but don't write them) goes into the calculation, lab analysis and design work for the various businesses. Ohhh, yeah right NOW this only hurts the chain restaurants, but being big, monolithic and planning their menus out months in advance, they can have an in-house nutritionist, have buying power for analytical software, contract with analytical labs at favorable rates, design dishes in lab kitchens and use the most homogenous and pre-packaged ingredients made in large food factories. Small restaurants owns by proprietors and small corporations don't PLAN THEIR MENUS WITH NUTRITIONISTS 8 MONTHS OUT. They don't use nutritional software and micro measure each dish for portion control, and they certainly are not able to whip up a new dish in the morning using the freshest local ingredients then have it sent to an analytical testing lab where they have $250,000 MRI machine and get it back in time to print it up on the lunch menu.

Only an ignoramus or a lawyer looking for a suit would think this is good for small business and mom and pop restaurants. If there was one guy with GUTS up there to explain this to the imbecilic marching ants that fill these bodies with their dead weight and starry eyed ideas then maybe someone would see how complex it is for the small proprietor. But they really don't give a fu(k if the small businessman withers. Because even though Lamozzi and Mazzone think they won't come after them someday, courts will force that law somewhere to be equally applied. Then you can eat at Applebees, or TGI or Olive Garden, or Applebees, TGI or OLive Garden anytime. No Luigis, No Maestros, no Cornells, no John Ricatello's, no La Famiglia. because they will not be able to COMPLY with the imbecilic requirement unless they order their dishes frozen out of the back of a national distributor's truck! Isn't that lovely!!!!!!!!!!!

In a way I am glad the leftist rich man who owns the Pravda Gazette is going to run a restaurant. Now he can see how fu(ked he is on all fronts and when the nutritional labeling and caloric analysis catches up with HIM, I won't be smiling (even though he gets what HE deserves), because when these laws get applied equally, big business and these jack off pols will have their way.

Oh, and by the way- these apply to restaurants which are regulated under local health departments, not all businesses have that oversight- they have state ag and markets oversight which is why SUPER MARKETS don't have to comply with that stupid trans-fat law in Albany County. Obviously they don't teach that in law school either.

No clue what that means....the point is all those families hate buchanan, Mertz and the GOP crew.  You can add Lazarri in there too as another name that left the GOP by the way.

Kissung a$$ is not the point....all those people not wanting to deal with a$$es like Mertz Buchanan Littlefield, etc is the point.

Like I said ...stick with your strategy...your down to about three people left in the local GOP.   You can rule all three of your followers!

Lololololololo green, I do love your posts!  Your obsession with Mertz is great!  You must really be pi$$ed how he easily took you out!  The guy really is a genius!  Mertz for President!

It looks like GP and the boys played a very risky hand in the game of politics, and they were called on their bluff.  Their only hope of staying in the game is getting Jell-O in with a pair of deuces.
