ALBANY -- Gov. Cuomo ducked and weaved yesterday, but never flatly said "no" as he was repeatedly pressed on whether he'd be willing to succeed Joe Biden as President Obama's running mate next year -- or even run for president in 2016.
"That's just political chatter and silliness," Cuomo said several times in Buffalo when pressed on The Post's report Monday on a leading Republican's prediction that Obama would choose him to run for vice president next year.
Andrew Cuomo has been in office barely 6 months and we're promoting him to Vice President? I believe that it's a bit premature. His agreements with the CSEA have not been ratified by the membership and word on the street is that the members will disapprove. No agreement with PEF. Layoff notices have been mailed, but, to date, not one position has been eliminated. The property tax cap was hapless as there was no relief from state and federal mandates.
Though many, including Fred Dicker. seem to be enamored by the man, I will wait to see if any of what he has already taken credit for comes to pass.
If Cuomo can achieve significant decreases in property taxes, if he can attract businesses back to New York State, and, if he can reduce the power of the Nanny State, I will join those who have already boarded the bandwagon.

Finally we have a governor who, in his short time in office, has shown leadership — something we haven’t had in Albany in a very long time. Now we’re hearing from the pundits: First it was former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and now Bill Powers, once leader of New York’s Republican Party (when New York had a Republican Party). Both have stated that Andrew Cuomo will be Obama’s running mate in 2012. Governor, please remember that you were elected by the people of New York to serve four years. Fulfi ll your obligation and keep your campaign promises. Right now it is more important for you to try and fix the mess New York is in. It would be wrong to turn your back on us and leave to help Obama continue his train wreck for another four years.
