SCHENECTADY -- When Sharon Jordan arrived at City Hall in 2004, it was supposed to a six-month stint as Mayor Brian U. Stratton got acclimated.
She ended up staying longer than her boss who left in April to head the state Canal Corp.
On Thursday, Jordan retired after decades in municipal government, during which she became a behind-the-scenes Democratic powerhouse and confidante to the mayor.
"She's given her heart and soul to this city and was a tremendous political force locally in the Democratic Party," said Stratton who named Jordan a Patroon, the city's highest civic honor.
He said he still talks with his "very dear friend" every couple of days.

Yeah, she was the genius who brought in all the poor losers from NYC to get free this, free that and free everything to build the democrapic welfare plantation to be the biggest industry in Schit City. She won a Patroon award? Well she's the right party. A total partisan who will be missed by no one that owns property or resides in the City. A gate keeper who answered the phone for two AWOL Mayors. Another DEM vulture who picked at the City carcass for too many years. Who will handle her duties? ROTFLMAO!
